  1. Not very regular regarding the thunder, but its almost here & quite deep too
  2. Even though its still a little way off, it sounds pretty explosive! Does high based storms produce positive lightning? because the thunder really does have an amazing deep rumble.
  3. Thunder now being heard to my South/SW. Very dark purple skies. Will be logging off if it gets worse soon! Exciting times
  4. If that lot just off the Cherbourg coast hold together over the channel, its making a beeline straight towards me Fingers crossed!
  5. Judging by the Radar, cells are developing all across the Northern coast of France heading this way. Definately a long night to come
  6. Nothing here now, just steady rain/drizzle and overcast. If it wasnt for feeling warm it would be classed as an early winter day now!!
  7. Very dark skies to my East/North and they travel NW. Moderate heavy rain for a while and one rumble of thunder but nowt else! The skies almost look dark purple towards Taunton. Still warm, but not like it was this morning/early afternoon. Sun is starting to reappear again now
  8. The strike detector here is going mad, persumably from that potent little cell just south of Crewkerne.
  9. nothing really happening here, the cell to the west of me is still in it's infant stage, so nothing electrical yet. I'm interested in the ones still in the channel.
  10. Thunder occurring around this area. Not much and at first thought it was a plane, but is certainly thunder. Torrential rain as well.
  11. Excellent cheers for the info, wifi/3G is rather limited to say the least to keep up to date with info! Storm must of lost electrical energy once it hit the island. No thunder heard since last update. I must say though I might move from Somerset to the IOW. It seems great for convective activity, more lightning seen here over this weekend than most of the year inland back home!!
  12. Sitting here in my holiday chalet at Norton Grange on the IOW, I can hear deep booms of thunder every couple of minutes. Not sure where from, but loud thunder from something big!
  13. Had a torrential rain/hail shower around 20 minutes ago, still raining here now with a couple of flashes of bright white lightning and very loud thunder.
  14. That is a potent little shower NE of me, A303 getting a real pasting. Shame it didnt form in the Lyme Bay before moving north!
  15. Nah, its just a little darker here, but nothing worth looking out of the window anymore for!
  16. Sitting in my coach in Tiverton, not 100% sure but I thought I just heard a faint rumble of thunder, certainly a heavy shower just to the SW of Tiverton atm according to the radar (iPhone)
  17. Best night for storm activity down this way for ages! Been distant lightning for most of the night towards my SW, no thunder but plenty of IC lightning streaking across the sky, been pretty spectacular. Just had the closest storm of the night pass over head now. Nice deep rumbles of thunder. Storm after storm have, and still are forming over the channel then moving up NW slowly but surely. This CF is making painful progress E but I ain't complaining, more electricity for me!!
  18. Just sitting here in the coach park at Gatwick watching an amazing "whales mouth" just going over the south terminal. No thunder/ lightning though and the rain is just a little further away from me. Amazing cloud formations and movement. Noticed one plane abort a land when the storm was over the runway but came for a second attempt with better success! Can't tell if I can hear thunder or not, damn you Boeing!
  19. Been a quiet day here today, been very nice in the sunshine. After such a stormless day it was a surprise to see a potent storm just to the south of me at present. I can confirm thunder in Chard but I'm just a little too far north to hear anything
  20. Some amazing looking clouds down here in Weymouth (in my coach!). Had a short hail storm about 15 minutes ago, and looking like another is approaching from the west soon
  21. Very heavy rain falling here now from I suspect is the line convection, now becoming torrential in nature
  22. Line of cells seem to be developing just to the SW of Ilminster (TA19). Interesting times ahead me thinks! Damn its so hard watching golf on Sky Player and radar watching and forum watching too!!!!
  23. Looking forward to this beast arriving here tonight, first bit of real action for months now! Working tomorrow on the buses so could be an interesting start to the day.
