    Well the showers down here are certainly weakening now and becoming well scattered. Good fun this morning in Taunton. At around 11:30 in Homebase - the evil sky opened its doors to let the monsoon type rain fall. Its bliming loud when torrential rain and small hail fall onto a metal roof! Roads were awash with localised flooding too. You know its going to be torrential when the sky stays black/purple even when the sun goes 'in'. Slowly settling down here now and I expect that to spread slowly Eastwards.

    Following on from the suspected FC sighting near to Yeovilton, a small FC was pictured nr to Bridgwater (Catcott/Woolavington) earlier on today - picture was shown on Points West.

    Funnel cloud being reported near to Yeovilton - damn, so close yet so enclosed in by other houses to see anything

    Great 'train' of showers here in the SW with Ilminster near enough dead center in the middle of them! Some torrential rain has fallen here over the last few hours, most noticeably the last half an hour. Looking like it will last a good while yet as more of these showers develop in Cornwall/Devon. No thunder though as yet.

    Well the rain has now just reached here, and heavy at that too. Plenty of precipitation out in the Atlantic with streams of rain reaching out from the South West. Once this area of rain has moved off to the East there are signs that some heavy/thundery showers could develop tomorrow down this way.

    Already a substantial and large area of RF touching the far tip of Cornwall, and expecting this to progress ENE and intensify in places during the day. Im certainly glad I have a day off today to radar watch. Certainly one of the most exciting weather 'events' to affect the UK for a little while now.

    Yes Dogs32, I was traveling back to Somerset from Cornwall on the A30 near Launceston earlier and there was some impressive convection going on, and some torrential rain causing some minor flooding on the carriageway. They seemed to be moving NE, but dieing out as they did. Back home here in South Somerset we just had a very sharp shower indeed.

    Cant believe the laziness of that front!! The very very edge of the rain keeps nudging West Somerset producing minimal rain then as the wave comes through it stops, then repeat, etc! There was some convection towards the East - although it was very difficult to see because of the haze.

    Listened to Ian on BBC Somerset this morning and he seems to think as the front moves very slowly East during the day it will begin to weaken, so areas such as Somerset and then Bristol, Gloucestershire, Dorset, etc will see heavy rain, but not on the scale that Cornwall saw early this morning.

    Personally I think the N-W detector is the most accurate Ive seen, No detector is going to be accurate, but the one on here uses a selection of different sensors around the UK to produce the closest/accurate area for the strikes. Plus im pretty sure it takes a while to update.

    Nice to see some cells now popping up in the channel about halfway to the south coast, radar look much more promising for the S/SW than it did an hour earlier!

    Yes I think I have to agree with them I'm afraid. Looking at the latest radar image shows a clump of strong cells in France but they look to be on course in a NNE direction - possibly towards Brighton and surrounding area. There is some light rain just off the coast of Brest and unless it intensifies over the channel or if it hits land (Lyme Bay area I reckon) then its just a damp night for us.

    Well some RF now appearing jut off the coast of Brest/France, and Im wondering if this could be the start of the possible 'plume' overnight for the SW?

    Had some very heavy rain here this morning at about 4:30am - 5am. There were some lightning/thunder, I reckon a flash every 20 minutes or so and only had a total of 4 so not very electrified at all. All eyes to the south later tonight/overnight for some possible imports.

    An amazing line of towering Cu/Cbs to my North West, moving slowly away to the NW. Im sitting in clear dark blue skies and its very warm indeed. Loving it

    Looks like a new cell has kicked off down towards the Devon/Cornwall border. I have a feeling its going to be a looonnngggg week of interesting weather coming up B)

    Some very beautiful and may I add 'explosive' convection happening to my North West now - possibly over towards Mid Devon? nice and bright cauliflower tops shooting way up into the atmosphere.

    Just been watching the cell produce some nice pink intercloud lightning, even though the storm seems to be moving North West it appears to be back building on its southern edge, so could see some lightning. Its moving away quite quickly now so thunder is very faint now,

    Distant thunder from the cell North of me, even though its quite a way from me the thunder is very 'boomy'

    Literally on the very southern tip of an impressive cell. I can look right up and see the border between clear sky and very dark cloud. Although no thunder audible from the beast yet.

    Hi Andy, its been a while!! Its great to sit out and watch the line of cells barely skim past me to my North. Very dark under those bases so more torrential rain towards Bridgwater again.

    Just come back from Bridgwater - absolute atrocious weather conditions there. Amazing forked lightning every 10 seconds or so with gunshot thunder almost continuous, and the rain, well, talk about rivers for roads! Various power cuts while waiting at traffic lights didn't help either Bk home now, but some giant towers surround this area in all directions.

    Blimey those cells just off the coast of France really exploded from virtually nothing in the space of an hour! The sat24 view just showed some convection building but nothing of electrified nature. It kicking off quite nicely now then :lol:

    Damn it, im in that catch 22 situation, I have a day off work today but don't want to rush through the day, but I want it to go fast so that the 'interesting' weather comes quickly!!!! ahh well. Just a waiting game now for the air to destabilise.
