  1. Pointlessly light, tiny flakes have been falling for quite a while now, giving a sugar dusting in the last 4 hours or so.
  2. Darlo and Aycliffe are in the rain shadow of the N Yorks Moors on a SE track, streamers fire in a few miles north of Aycliffe, always. Usual southern boundary of the heavier precipitation is halfway between Aycliffe and Durham, say Chilton/Ferryhill.
  3. It's a bit more than 3 miles from Aycliffe to Darlo, what part of town are you in? As for asl, all of Aycliffe is higher than Darlo.
  4. Very disappointed in what I've got in my part of Newton Aycliffe, obviously a lot more than Darlo but that's no consolation. Literally travel 1.5-2 miles N and W and it doubles. A couple miles more, with elevation, and it doubles again. Seen the heavy snow literally pass just to the North all day, and seen the light stuff here re-intensify to the west all day. This is normal for here on a SE.
  5. Cripes, there was loads more, a good 8 inches. Just 5 miles NW and 200-250ft higher.
  6. Light, fine snow continues here. The differences in snow cover even around town are marked. Much heavier cover up near the Sports Complex and School Aycliffe than at my house, and I'd imagine that the Cobblers estate will have more as well. Had to go through Darlo this morning, and there is next to bog all there compared to my location. Off out to Leeholme next, thats 500-600ft, there'll be much more there.
  7. Just got back from the school run and I've already had enough of over cautious drivers. There's a cm of slush on the main roads. It's not armageddon.
  8. Right, here at 3am it was snowing. Woke up at 7.30, still snowing. Hardly any accumulation, total depth a measly 8cm over grass. Just cleaned the car windscreen of an inch of very wet and claggy snow. We can talk all day about how this could happen and that could happen, but this is a damp squib. Nowt will accumulate during the day with light/moderate horizontal snow, and 1º
  9. It's one of the biggest fails in recent memory. Honestly thought I'd be waking up to something significant, not a couple cms wet snow.
  10. Laughable event. Saw the radar, thought "has to be epic, it's inevitable", and it's put maybe a further 2-3cm down. Snowing quite well right now, no more snow than at about 3am.
  11. Absolutely and utterly bleaching it down now - I go to bed satisfied.
  12. Still snowing moderately, some accumulation but hard to tell how much. Could do with bigger flakes and the wind to drop for a while.
  13. Moderate snow here now, half an hour more and I'm off to bed.
  14. If it moved east then it'd be a big boom further out to sea.
  15. Hmmm. Just been outside, the car has a fresh layer on it but I have to say the new covering of snow is wet.
  16. Fine snow continues with a fine dusting, getting a tad impatient now!
  17. Horizontal snow now on a strengthening easterly. It needn't think it's blowing through town without landing, like.
  18. Coming down a bit heavier now, blowing about a bit in the wind though. A new dusting.
