  1. Well what a nice surprise.....snow started falling at about 2am this morning as I was heading to bed, and was pretty intense, still snowing at the moment, albeit lightly & is pretty foggy, worse than shown in the pictures; seems to be covering the whole area now. Theres quite a few inches in some parts. Im just wondering if this is the end or is there anymore to come?
  2. Seems to have stopped now, but was a lovely heavy shower, has left about an inch cover and it looks beautiful. Lets hope it comes back again early Autumn!!
  3. OMG, just off to bed and its started snowing really heavily, sticking aswell it looks like a winter wonderland outside. Snow is really heavy with fat juicy flakes, where did this come from? Temp 1.3oC
  4. Still snowing here, has been continuously for past few hours. Temp 0.5oC
  5. Nice pics there! Some places did have a real good covering overnight B)
  6. Lovely pics there, dont know what it is but churches & frosted trees are always a fave of mine when it snows B)
  7. Thanks Rustynailer! Just been doing a bit of research for any steam enthusiasts..the train was a Cotton Mill Express. The 12 carriages are being pulled by 2 classic locomotives - a Black Five and a Standard Class Four. The train left Manchester Victoria traveling to Huddersfield, Sowerby Bridge, Blackburn, Bolton and return....although it was to cold to wait for it coming back again! hehe
  8. Just a few pictures from my morning walk around Dovestones Reservoir in Greenfield Saddleworth & a few lucky ones I managed to take of a steam train passing through Diggle this morning......it looked just sensational and really powered itself up for its climb over the moors to Huddersfield. Hope you like, sorry for there being so many, I took loads and couldnt decide which ones to get rid of! Nice to see the snow in other parts this morning aswell, Ste
  9. Good few hours of snowfall here, some heavier bursts too. Nice covering on all surfaces. Temp 0.9oC. Its still coming dow, hope it keeps on for awhile longer yet
  10. Several hail, sleet & snow showers here today, some on the heavy side, hopefully might stick now its nightfall!! Temps dropped dramatically in the showers, from 6.5oC to 2oC
  11. That bloomin happened when I was out walking, they were pretty good sized ones too, stinging my face, and even got in my coat pockets! Grrrrr!! Anyway, quite a few showers here today, no lying snow here, but from my window I can see that Bleaklow Hill & the Snake Pass have lying snow...only a dusting on the tops, but looks quite beautiful in the dazzling sunshine
  12. Having quite a few wintry showers here now, definately more frequent, but glorious spring sunshine inbetween. Temp is suprisingly high 6.7oC.....unless my thermometer is on the blink
  13. Must be great being in your location, you get to experience the cold conditions first, whilst we have an extra day or two of warmer conditions......are you the most northerly of UK Netweather members?
  14. Thanks for that NorthernRab, I was surprised to see it looking so snowless, but im sure it wont be for long, you can look 30 mins later and it can be a white out! lol. I think the main prospect for any lying snow will be the overnight period tonight & tomorrow night, so its a case of early bed to be up early in the morning, or do like I did this morning, wake up and find its all gone!
  15. Thanks for that James, Ive not long woken up, and found some wintry stuff on my window that was melting, unsure if it had been hail or snow. Cold has certainly arrived here, temp down to 3.5oC. Have looked on all the usual weather cams, cant see much snow over the highlands, but certainly lying snow on the North Pennines around Nenthead (pic below)
  16. Oh that will bring back memories of Easter Saturday night into Sunday, think half of netweather was awake and online that night, it was pretty exciting......although knackering! Whens the next cold spell after this one then? hehe
  17. Lovely pics, great ones that show the intensity at which the snow was coming down! Not a day to be stood at that bus stop I say!
  18. Currently 8.9oC & overcast. Had some really strong gale force winds about 13:30 with hail/ wintry showers. Winds now eased off and showers less frequent
  19. After just hearing that there is possibly snow on the way for some parts of the UK this coming weekend, which seems wierd with temperatures on the rise & expected to make 18oC in some parts! Anybody know where the snow is most likely etc. I did say after the last Easter wintry spell that I had a feeling cold snowy weather would return......and Ive been having withdrawl symptoms of cold ramping and staying up all night waiting for wintry weather to arrive......bring it on...... Your thoughts please...
  20. Nice to see snow in that part of the world, esp like the village shot....very nice!
  21. Nice pics everybody......is that it for this season, or we gonna get more? I kind of want more snow, but am ready for warm sunshine, bbq's and driving around in the convertible
  22. Ended up with approx 5 inches of lying snow, slowly thawing now. Did well here as the rainfall radar shows red colour over this area earlier on this am
  23. Nice pics there, im just across the hill.........looks a bit whiter today though
  24. A few pics of snowfall in this region....quite a few inches have fallen overnight in Oldham & Saddleworth
