  1. They seem to be showing a complete white-out for the whole of the UK!! Or there is a glitch because I'm just getting a white screen at the moment!

Anyway....... very cloudy here now, with a very dark horizon to the west. Temperature still at 1.7c with DP at -1c. I expect to see something within the hour now, judging by the radars.

I also only get the white screen! Made me laugh when it said this was a one hour trial, If you like what you see sign up. no thanks. Now I can't even see what will arrive or when.

  2. And for those with the NWRadar, the 'clump' of cells in the south is part of the LEWP (mesoscale low pressure area) feature following along the frontal boundary's that TORRO is estimating could potentially bring down a funnel or two overnight in these areas as it crosses the south.

Oh dear, I don't have that radar, where roughly is this area at the moment?

Cheif Wiggam, what page are you looking at on Chimet? I am puzzled as the Chimet I am looking at is showing the pressure has dropped now to 990 and I can't see any rise. The winds do seem to be easing a bit but I think it is due to the wind changing direction slightly and becoming more sheltered by the IOW. Here in Bognor it still sounds just as gusty. Also the gusts are still up to Force 10

It can only get worse with at least 2-3 more hours of the strongest winds due. ;(

  4. Ok, sorry that'll be my fault then lol. Winds are really strong here, I can't get a reading from my local weather Station it always shuts down at night.

Grins, so frustrating, why on earth do they shut it down? Surely it could go on recording. Odd.

Here the gusts seem to be getting stronger and more frequent, pressure now down to 993 so still dropping off pretty rapidly. A few more hours of fun for me I reckon before we pass the peak. Hope so anyway as we are still only at F8 sustained winds with a max of 41 mph sustained wind and a highest gust of 62 mph.

    I want more!!!

  5. Getting really gusty now, max gust 62mph, I wish I could record the sounds and put it on here. LOL Looks like being a long night of storm watching for me. Just loving it. Or maybe not, just looked out the window to check the garden fence and got a faceful of water from a leaky gutter! :aggressive:

Oops wondered what the funny noise was, someone dustbin just gone rolling down the road spewing it's contents as it goes. LOL

Or maybe not lol, I may be picking their rubbish out my front garden tomorrow. :(

  6. Don't forget the Plymouth sea area for which the shipping forecast is for, goes down to the French Coast and out to the Scillies. The winds reported are taken from Plymouth Roborough, which is approx 4 miles from the coast, in the North part of the City. If you look at a map, you'll see I'm right on the coast (my postcode is PL9 0BS) so we'll be getting the direct force compared to Roborough.

Phill, you are quite correct about the difference even 4 miles inlnad compared to the coast. I am half a mile from the seafront but even that makes quite a difference to the force of the wind. Right on the front is pretty gusty just now.

  7. Met Office saying sustained winds of 36mph with a gust at 57mph for Plymouth. That was at 1800hrs. Its got a lot worse in the last hour here.

That sounds a bit daft to me as on their gale warning page they have Force 8 gale to Storm 10 for Plymouth. Always go with the shipping forecast so much more reliable, it has to be when peoples live are involved.

Edit, Kent Snow said "The Wind over the past hour has picked up. Few spots of rain in the air. Lots to come from looking at the radar!"

definitely plenty to come and it is currently progged for the south Kent coast to get the highest winds, so keep safe.

  8. Running at 56.4mph gust and sustained winds of 38mph in Poole harbour.

    997mb dropping 2mb/hr

Nice to hear from further west of here as I can get a feel for what is to come. A bit concerned about the Torro warning as around the I.O.W and East of the IOW is a high tornado risk area because of the way the winds come around the island. This does seem to be the sort of very gusty weather that spawns tornados.

I can already hear a light of lighter things blowing around and my eucalyptus tree is bending well.

  9. Chimet showing F7 with F8 gusts ands trend is upwards

Winds now starting to be apparent outside but no ferry cancellations just yet

Hi Chief Wiggam, Chimet now gone up to F8 gusting F9 so this is moving in pretty quickly as your post was just 8 minutes ago.

Edit, Ah you beat me to it while I was writing. I am a bit on the slower side these days but will always love a storm. Let it blow, let it blow, let it blow!

  10. 'Coast' said "I hope not, all my Christmas booze is in the garage!"

Where exactly in Eastbourne are you Coast? :drinks: And which number? :p

Already starting to get very gusty here about half a mile from the sea at Bognor. Force 10 forcast for here but I reckon Eastbourne and east of there could get the worst of this. What time is high tide I wonder? OH DEAR 00:23am high here, just as the wind is peaking and around 6 hours for the swell to build! No wonder they have the storm surge barriers up on the slipways on the prom. I will be down there in the morning to see if any of the fishermen lost their tackle to the sea this time.
