  1. seems to be nore northern area seeing the best/worst of it at the moment Good Luck
  2. the radar does look quite colourful in that part of the world
  3. does the rain in the channel pose any threat to the SE corner ?
  4. a shower heading in my direction but looking at the radar doesn't look too nasty at the moment but that could change But as the days are getting shorter by the time things start to get going the sun will go down abd they'll start to die out I think there is a time element here This is not june or july where days are a lot longer the shorter days must play some part even if it's only a small part in the devolopment and life of showers IMO
  5. BBC expects the Heaviest and the more slow moving showers across more northern parts eg : NW England N Wales and N Midlands while there will be heavy showers elsewhere as well Some people will be lucky or unlucky depending on your point of view and stay dry as some others have said it's still fairly cloudy with only limited breaks but I don't know how that'll impact on any shower development
  6. that's the problem with these showers moving so slowly It could set the pattern for the day if you miss them your day may be mainly dry if your under them as you are at the moment you may have them for an hour or two or three
  7. Just saw the latest BBC forecast on News 24 and their forecast map shows not much in the way of rainfall this afternoon and Tomas Schafernaker is hedging his bets quite substantially now saying that they have no idea where these showers will pop up and some may havw a pleasant day but be prepared just in case like the poster above says just wait and see you may get a shower you may not
  8. All these warnings expire at 18.00 so by 15.00 or 16.00 if you haven't had any bad weather you can essentially knock it on the head wonder if the met office is in league with a Umbrella Manufacturer
  9. the other thing to mention is that as these showers are forecast to be slow moving anyone not in the firing line is going to have a largely dry day the latest forecast on the BBC weather website which was updated at 08.35 has me with a day of sunny intervals with a light shower at 19.00 which is a complete contrast to their TV forecast and their rain forecast maps don't show a lot of rain either locally or nationally A lot of people might be disappointed with the weather they get today
  10. those warnings are very misleading as it's not going to be raining/thundering everywhere the met office seems to have gone mad covering everyone in a blanket forecast which for most will no be what will occur
  11. not looking forward to today but 1 crumb of comfort is the longer it stays dry the less time you will have them and I hope it stays dry the entire day
  12. I thought that as well as I watched the BBC local forecast It doesn't show the West Midlands Covered in showers I think the Met Office is covering itself by having a blanket forecast for all of England and Wales when a large Majority will not see anything I wonder if that rain moving up from C/S England will clip me Edit : looks like that rain will just miss me Edit 2 : To top it off the BBC website has my forecast for today as sunny intervals with a light shower at 19.00 a complete contrast to their TV forecast this of course was updated at 08.35 so unless something has changed I will not put too much faith into it been correct
  13. Last Time this was forecast I didn't see a single shower/storm What's the highest risk time for my area anyone know I live 5 miles north of Coventry
  14. I'll sit downstairs with my parents if and when this starts and I go into a particular mindset which I can maintain for hours if need be I'm not sure what is worse the storm itself or the severs stress I put myself under before it starts as once it starts and I know that is here I go into my routine of having my eves shut tight to try and avoid seeing lightning which is my biggest worry I actually to seem to calm down The rainfall radar is showing the rain as less intense than it was so hopefully that also means less severe thunder and lightning but I assume they don't go hand in hand
  15. probably expecting everybody to eat beans for dinner today
  16. Thanks Haven't got an I-Pod but my parents have returned from the town so with their help I will manage I feel such a idiot , 35 years old and still need my parents to hold my hand during bad weather (Thunderstorms) of course the rain seems to be easing just a little bit
  17. I really am praying this does not hit me dead on as I have trouble dealing with the weakest of storms never mind the intensity of all lot over South Wales Hope it misses me
  18. It may well hit us but i think if it does it'll be mainly on the fringes of this rain It'll also be interesting to see if it can maintain it's current intensity once it moves away from the higher ground in Wales
  19. I think it may miss you It seems like it may move over Wolverhampton Telford and the Stafford area moving NE so it'll probably just skirt north of me as well which is a good thing because my garden is already looking like a swamp
  20. I see that as well but put little stock in it as they had the light rain graphic last night and the rain was anything but light anyway that's 36 hours away and the weather forecasts seem to be changing constantly
  21. I know what you mean Considering the forecast for showers / storms that were forecast for the country as a whole and the midlands / northern England in particular , we have all got off quite lightly
  22. I would never attempt to make a forecast as I lack the knowledge and experience required to do so I never said forecasting was easy , I was pointing out that for me when quite widespread showers / storms are forecast I tend to miss out and when they are expected to be isolated and many places staying dry they seem to hit me dead on I also know like you said that even though my county (Warwickshire) may see showers / storms me locally might stay dry I was just pointing out the Irony that as I got Thunder yesterday when it wasn't expected I probably won't today when It's more likely
  23. Since your expecting more thunder tomorrow than you did today I can look forward to a dry day here tomorrow as the weather more often than not does the opposite of the forecast
  24. well lets praise the GMTV's weather boys and girls
