  1. still dry for me expect to see some rain from the CF but I am not totally convinced about these showers / possible storms of course now I've written this god will probably send me an almighty storm just to prove me wrong Edit : Met Office updated forecast Headline: Heavy showers for England and Wales. Drier elsewhere. This Evening and Tonight: Heavy, and slow-moving showers will continue to affect southern England, the Midlands and Wales overnight. Elsewhere, staying fairly cloudy with the odd spot of light rain in places, especially on northeastern coasts with a fair breeze developing here. Monday: Scattered showers continuing in southern England. Elsewhere, mainly dry with bright spells and the odd light shower. A fresh feel in the north and east. Windy later in the southeast. you'd have thought they would have mentioned thunder or is it implied in the heavy showers bracket
  2. I see in the warnings it's showers getting increasingly heavy and only locally thundery and sinking southwards later in the evening so those in the south you may still see something
  3. weather09 said Rain over Wales is associated with the cold front/occlusion. The risk for heavy showers and perhaps weak thunderstorms from the Midlands southward will be greatest from late afternoon onwards and throughout the night, as Low and associated upper cold pool post-frontal airmass situates over central and southern England during this period, so sufficiently unstable environment present after sunset. that may explain that rain moving Eastwards and the showers over NI moving ESE
  4. don't know why I'm so worried We've had storms from past years that have drifted up from france after a few days heat (you know the type) and probably a lot worse than aything that'll be seen today and I'm still here I think it's just the uncertainly of if and when we get any because when they start I go into a certain mindset which I maintain for hours and actually calms me down but does little for a manly image anyway enough of me taking this off topic
  5. Well I'm in a minority here I suspect But I don't want a single flash of lightning or rumble of thunder in my area as I can't stand them good luck to those who like them though
  6. I think It'll be a case of some places getting a soaking and some getting very little depending on your location and the BBC are also forecasting these showers to ease later which is something they were not doing this morning
  7. Thanks for the info weak storms is something I can just about cope with Edit : BBC Weather Site has just updated it's maps and now shows rain not as heavy but still some some heavy bursts but slightly more widespread and with worst of the rain between 7pm and 1am
  8. you wouldn't believe it's the longest day in 8 days time doesn't seem that long since the clocks went forward soon all the summer persuits will be over Wimbledon , World Cup , Twenty Twenty Cricket and the days will be drawing in and before we know it Autumn will be here It's off topic I know but I felt like rambling a little
  9. Well if your reading of the maps is correct and I hope it is I will miss the very worst of the showers It won't be dry where I am but hopefully not too heavy as I have a guttering issue and a lazy council
  10. thanks for those maps surprised to see the worse instability and rainfall over more e/se parts at 18z that's if i am reading your maps correctly thought that would have been slight further west
  11. If this was for my benefit then Thanks even if it weren't Thanks anyway
  12. Does anyone know how strong these storms will actually be ? What I am trying to ask is will these storms be considered strong/severe in uk terms or just typical uk type Hope somebody understands the question I am trying to ask
  13. Looks like a decent day potentially for all you storm lovers Me I've got 12-18 hours of worrying to do as this weather is not my cup of tea at all I'd hide under the bed if I could fit Looks like I'm in for a battering but you can never tell with showers / storms
  14. Well if the BBC is to be believed There are Storms forecast for everywhere but Scotland and to last overnight too Think the BBC is overdoing this just a little bit
  15. Zero is my favorite number
  16. So basically it's a waiting game
  17. Well from a selfish point of view Thunderstorms would not be welcome as I don't like them but we need a little more rain and that would be welcome Edit - BBC's latest forecast still has the focus on more Eastern/South Eastern parts for possible storms on sunday but most places should still see showers It'll probably all change again by Tomorrow
  18. I will wait and see before breaking out the deckchairs
  19. If people are waiting for rain just wait for the Bank holiday The weather always goes to hell for a Bank holiday
  20. I take it from these nice looking charts now is not the time to invest in a hosepipe or umbrella
  21. Can I clear something up Do you mean the chances of convection/thunderstorms will continue or the downgrades to continue
  22. Could I have a link for this please
  23. I saw a similar story in the Daily Express this morning The temperatures this weekend will only be the start of a blazing summer which will last through to mid September Well that was the gist of it anyway I mean a few warm days and only a few are forecast if your lucky enough and the papers are going mental
  24. I've seen these types of forecast before then less than 48hrs later there essentially binned I will wait until the actual day
  25. I too hate these long days and Have June 21st marked on the calender so I can celebrate the fact that the days start to get shorter again and get these these summer months which I hate with a vengeance out of the way
