  1. one of the most evil looking clouds has just passed overhead, heading in a north east direction. a few rumbles of thunder. the northeast direction is as black as night. heading towards reading i'd say.
  2. a bat just flew right over me in the garden - normally those chaps come out at sunset. good omen for an evening storm on the way? maybe he's getting his evening meal in now before all hell breaks loose. i must admit this horizon-to-horizon haze looks ominous.
  3. a pity. we could do with a bit of a storm down here. its been horribly humid/muggy for the past few days. no chance of something hitting us from across the channel later?
  4. down in the south here , the entire sky has become overcast with a higher level haze, with lower level clouds floating around. very muggy, humid at well.
  5. i picked up spanish radio on FM - not sure if thats a sign of storm activity?
  6. we could do with some storms down south. its been awfully muggy the past few days.

  9. if you watch closely you'll notice secondary lightning, but thinner , coming even closer to the camera.
  10. yes - i saw that too , on the road to Alton , driving from Petersfield in Hampshire this evening (around 6pm). the mammatus was spectacular, but unfortunately, no lightning with it.
  11. i remember the last time that happened (snow thunder) , about 2 years ago. the country ground to a halt as drivers ended up being stranded , such was the downpour of snow in a short space of time.
  12. --> QUOTE(Matt B @ 19 Mar 2007, 01:07 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Heavy Snow, soft hail mix falling here in Reading atm is it sticking on the ground? just wondering if my drive home from petersfield to basingstoke this evening will be somewhat dangerous or not.

  22. unfortunately 6 injured. taken to hospital... sky weatherman is warning about a similar system coming in from wales... its heading east. its not over yet for today. the tornado system must have been the one i videoed earlier this morning (the hailstorm) - headed east - and it hit london around 11.05am that was videoed around 9.30am here in basingstoke. update: sky are saying 5 injured. treated at the scene for injuries and shock. update 2: bbc - 5 treated at the scene. 1 man taken to hospital with head injuries. 6 injured total.
