just had an very intense hail downburst here in Basingstoke. seemed to go on for absolutely ages. and another burst has broken out as i type this. i managed to get some video of it - i'll see if i can upload it to Youtube.

just hit the tree icon when you are composing a message - insert the url to your image in there. i use http://www.tinypic.com , if i want to quickly host an image - once you have uploaded your image, tinypic will tell you what url to cut and paste into your message. it starts with "http://" for example: http://i7.tinypic.com/212hnbr.jpg you can also embed an image into a post if you use the url that starts with [ IMG ] - this is also given by tinypic once you upload e.g another way of doing it is just to attach the image - under your compose message area you'll see a "file attachments" section. you can just attach your image there.

go to "My Controls" (its up on the top right of your screen) select "Edit Profile information" (left hand menu) Edit "Your location" to wherever you are Click on the "Amend my profile" button.

thunderstorms over basingstoke between 7am and 8am roughly. rain became torrential in bursts. no hailstones. not sure if it was connected , but i couldnt receive any BBC radio channel on my car radio on the way to work this morning - was a transmitter hit? I could receive 2-10 FM (local radio), and Classic FM was coming and going with static - but not a bit of BBC , until i got closer to Petersfield , about 20 miles south of B'stoke. currently at work here in Petersfield - overcast, rain, but no thunder at the moment.

i thought i heard thunder this evening - and then i realised it was the local army firing range. despite all the media warnings about storms, not a bit of it here in the middle of hampshire..

the storms missed us here in sunny basingstoke. still very hot this evening and not a drop of rain all day.

i'm pretty sure i'm seeing an anvil develop south-east of basingstoke, which might explain your clap of thunder. anyone else in the hants area seeing this?

i'm seeing a lot of updraft (cauliflower? ) clouds developing south of Basingstoke, in the midst of a lot of haze. another thunderstorm developing, maybe?

very ominous clouds to the north of where i am (basingstoke). no thunder or rain to report yet.

i'm in basingstoke - we've just experienced that severe thunderstorm mentioned above. at times there was lightning going off multiple times per second. probably the best lightning show i've seen this year so far. amazing stuff. curiously, a lot of the lightning appeared to be going sideways - cloud to cloud. is that possible, or was it just because of my vantage point?
