  1. That cell is running right over my house (and I am in London today). If I do not get any thunder or lightning in London, gutted will not even begin to cover it.
  2. Wonder if the feature running towards London from the SE right now will be the catalyst for thunderstorms kicking off through this afternoon?
  3. I’m in central London today for work so hopefully I might get lucky today. Good luck everyone and for those out chasing in particular, be safe
  4. …another couple of strikes… edit - and some more…hope all of our SE coast contingent haven’t all given up for the night. They’d be getting a bit of a light display at the moment
  5. What is this…fresh storms have fired NE of Dieppe!!! And I need to go to sleep bugger!!
  6. Love the optimism but I can’t help but think this is a little too far SE for my neck of the woods…but I’ll take it, cheers @Eagle Eye
  7. I have seen some models on and off hinting at the potential for some convective rainfall to spread up from France across the south. I think the chances are very low, but more than happy to keep my fingers crossed
  8. Nothing has used up any of the energy where that isolated cell has formed. I can see it from here - looks a little ropey but is nevertheless developing an anvil.
  9. These look like hail spikes to me - quite unusual in the UK
  10. Stopped following for the last hour or so because I’m too far east and everything seemed flat - then sitting here minding my own business (and out of nothing but largely clear skies) this dude appears to my south. Everything else so far has collapsed but so far it’s looking robust and still moving on up
  11. Same here @BenFreeman_91 - it is so hot and sticky! I can see the huge anvils from the storms that fired south and west of London but it’s looking now so much more unlikely it’s going to fire here. Swear I just smelt a waft of petrichor too. Damnit! Enjoy everyone!
  12. My south is looking increasingly moody and my sister-in-law in Petts Wood has just asked if it’s going to rain. The Crawley cells are creeping slightly north as well as NW, but building slightly eastwards bit by bit too!!! The sky to my south and SE is the closest I think I’ve seen to Cu build up without properly blowing. This could be a close one. 30C here with a 16C dp.
  13. Something has blown up in amongst this lot, just to my SE. Focusing on the shower SW of Rochester which if it goes like the Surrey/Sussex cells should come this way. Literally nothing to heavy downpour in a 5 min radar update - please oh please!!
  14. Some discrete downpours have developed south of the M25, tracking NW
  15. Much more convection visible from SE London/NW Kent today. The first photo are towers rocketing to my SE whilst the second pic is of what I’m confident will soon become a storm over N London
  16. Yes indeed. The AROME 6z does appear for the SE to be a breeding area of storms that will quickly grow upscale and track west late afternoon into the evening. Based on the Cu field that has suddenly appeared to be south and east that would be consistent with what I’m seeing
  17. A robust looking tower has up towards N London area, surrounded by what looks like pileus from here. Suspect this could well become a storm
  18. Cu field starting to develop suddenly here in NW Kent/SE London area.
  19. Wow it feels so much stickier today than yesterday
  20. Many of the models again appear to have my neck of the woods under a firm cap with no trigger. The high-res NMM is probably the best opportunity I’ve seen for some SE areas. It is already turning hot and more humid today than yesterday.
  21. Still trying to give it a go across NW Kent and stretching across S London. Towers getting more robust each time. Few models keen for small, discrete cells to erupt this evening…time will tell
  22. Can’t be having people calling ‘bust’ and all that nonsense - it’s far too early in the day! It’s around 30C here and a breeze has just swept up, blowing this hot air in one direction and that’s into the risk zone. As others have said, when it goes, it will go bang and across numerous areas.
  23. Long line of towers forming to my south, presumably along the edge of north downs. Has been hot and crystal clear up until recently
