I suspect Dan may issue a revised forecast later if he feels confidence has improved the risk of overnighters across the S/SE. CAPE remains in situ overnight and a fresh pulse is suggested to move in by the WRF-NMM, but this model doesn’t break out any rain. AROME however does break out pocket showers/downpours. I would not be remotely surprised if we do see the odd storm overnight, but I won’t be staying up

First proper summery evening of the year! Windows and doors open, t-Rex sized mosquitoes and stag beetles all out and about - finally!! Summer 2023 is finally underway!! Looking forward to some pucker storm videos from some of you lucky folks

I’ve had a shocker of a thunder year so far. Yes there’s been a few storms around and I’ve heard a couple of distant rumbles, every storm has otherwise completely missed. Not even a distant flash of lightning. It’s looking increasingly less likely I’ll be in the money for the up coming event although in my experience I’ll never say never with some decent cape values, heat and humidity all present at times in the next 48-72 hours. Desperately need things to change soon (or at the very least, my garden does!).

First post of the year after a fairly disappointing start. Apart from one rumble in April I’ve seen or heard nothing. Today’s storms over London look very impressive and I can hear thunder from home in Bexley. Getting very good height on these Cbs but unfortunately the line is just a few miles too far to my N and W for any lightning or to get proper enjoyment. This current storm is developing an impressive anvil

At friends’ in N Kent - just saw huge flash verified by blitzortung - bit surprised given how cold it feels and unimpressive returns on radar…but was a definite lightning flash nevertheless

I had to help serve dinner just as the peak arrived - naffed off doesn’t cover it. BUT the sky went jet black, the lightning then started, the low level clouds were the fastest moving I’ve seen in a UK storm, swirling scud, torrential rain…was awesome!

This is the closest to a severe storm I’ve seen all year ️

Hoping as the showers die this evening (and maybe the skies clear) I’ll get some good views of Channel storms firing off

Thunder and lightning eased alas, but visually it was gorgeous, complete with whale’s mouth

Amazing sky incoming - camera does not do it justice by an my means. Visually it should be kicking out a tonne more thunder and lightning than it is - damn saturated atmospheric profiles

These are big Cu - only the 2 booms and suspected rumble so far, but either way it’s going to absolutely belt it down soon!

Much in the way of lightning @Mapantz? I have a few storm lover friends in Southampton and the detectors have been woeful tonight so I can’t really rely on them.
