  1. Radar is showing the leading edge of snow having reached Rhosllanerchrugog*. Which is 40 miles from us as the snow flies! Although according to Met Office, we don't get any precipitation until 6am... Temp 2.5, dewpoint -2... hmmm! *Which wins a small award for the coolest name on that particular scale of weather map!
  2. We're in the amber zone and Met Office generated ones gives us sleet at midday, sleet at 6pm and nothing else! Obviously they must mean 20cm of sleet...?
  3. That's the bit I can't understand! It's as if they misread the values on the shadow and turned them into an amber warning!!!
  4. Not flawless if you've got the peaks nearby! Someone go and file them down for us a bit please!!!
  5. Yeah, suppose so. The met office predictive radar shows a huge hole in the cloud right over where we are for the whole day - perhaps some sort of malicious umbrella set up by jealous southerners...
  6. Big downgrade for us on the Met Office forecast - snow not starting until midday, and that's sleet until 3pm, stopping by nightfall with a chance of a shower overnight and nothing on Saturday. Looking like another damp squib... pah!
  7. I've got a girls night out on Friday - just over a mile walk so that'd be OK if there was any snow, but I don't fancy the uphill return journey after a few glasses of wine!!! And the thermals and snowboots look is so last year, daaahling!
  8. That weather warning looks nice, especially compared with yesterdays! Could we have enough to attempt a 6-ball snowman this time - 'Mr Leany' (born 5th Jan 2010, decapitated 10th Jan, finally all melted 21st Jan) was 7 foot tall and has yet to be beaten, even by this years Snow Zombie, Mrs Leany and Snow Dog!
  9. Noticed a bit of sleet on the way back home at 10.30, just checked the weather before bed and found a warning, looked outside again and it's heavy wet snow! It's even leaving an impression on the sopping wet ground after a day of rain. Didn't expect that one!
  10. Haven't bothered to follow this one much as it seemed very unlikely to give us anything, but whatever is coming down lightly at the moment is drifting down very slowly and blowing around in the breeze. Definitely more 'fluffy' than rain, but not much of it! Manchester airport is reporting rain and snow but the dewpoint is still just above freezing. It just doesn't feel like snow weather out there!
  11. Still heavy here - 0 and 0 dewpoint. Looks like the rain band will be over by 4pm here - do you think we can hang on?!
  12. Threatening the BBQ seems to have worked! Coming down reasonably now, small flakes but settling. Temp 0 and DP -3. Off to change into the bikini to keep those temperatures down!
  13. If I keep it up I think the neighbours might call the police! Had about 10 flakes now, so dusting off the snowman kit in anticipation...!
  14. I wouldn't be peeved if the rain radar didn't show that we actually should have had an hour of it by now!!!
  15. Still not a sausage here in Knutsford. A 10 second hard stare out the window didn't even give me one flake! Ground dry, bikini and BBQ on standby!
  16. The Rain Today radar tells me it's been snowing here for over half an hour but I've only seen the odd tiny flake! Temp 0, dewpoint -4 - now that's more like it! :-)
  17. Met Office: "Outbreaks of sleet and snow spreading across all parts during the morning, settling for a time, but then turning to rain through the afternoon except on the highest hills. Maximum Temperature 4 °C." Doesn't sound like much of an event...!
  18. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/in-pictures-21427713 You make your own mind up...
  19. Oooh, great idea! That's 100% guaranteed to make the clouds open!
  20. 2 degrees with a dewpoint of -3 at the moment. Of course the law of sod says that'll only happen when there's no precipitation around! I am now packing away all the snowboots, ski trousers, woolly hats and gloves and getting the summer coats out. Only then will it be guaranteed to snow tomorrow!
  21. I think the area's been extended southerly in the Met Office warning - yesterday we were just in it (as usual!) and today it's down as far as Stafford...?
  22. Woke up to some flurries, now light snow, settling but melting after a while as it's not heavy enough. Pretty though!
  23. Zero as well. Still drying out nicely - oh well, at least it'll be an easy drive taking my lad to the outpatients at Macclesfield tomorrow!
  24. I'll share my dewpoint for half your precipitation - do we have a deal?
