  1. You're only 5 miles from me as the crow flies and we're so dry now the ground is partly dried out! Send some this way please...!
  2. Finally, a dewpoint of zero!!!!!!! Aaaaaaaand the precipitation has all gone....
  3. Whatever very light stuff that's coming down now is falling slowly and blowing in the wind - although it's hardly anything and the ground's no longer 'shiny' wet. Wine O'Clock for me too! ETA Dewpoint's finally made it to 1!
  4. Light rain still here - Met office says that we'll be dry after midday...?! Which means that when the cold air gets here we won't have anything left to turn to snow...
  5. D'oh, the 8.30 rain today radar shows the 'turning to snow' bit all round us - Bolton, Macclesfield and Stoke - and we're in a defiant blue rain blob in the middle. Push this way, won't you?!
  6. Raining here, 2 degrees and dewpoint holding steady at 2 since 6pm yesterday! Can someone send the cold air this way please? Looks like a great 'wet event' instead at the moment!
  7. Dewpoint is -1 here at the moment! Now all we need is for that to stay...
  8. I used to live there as a kid. We had to ski to school most days, and held a special celebration in April when we could see the grass again. And all the summer holidays were 6 weeks of sun and paddling-pools. No really, it was!
  9. Met office gives a delightful 'heavy sleet' all day for us, with one soitary 'light snow' icon just after midnight...!!!
  10. We always try to freeze a snowball in the winter - which is then used as a nice surprise for someone relaxing in the sun during the 3 days of summer that we get!
  11. We had white out for half an hour or so, a complete covering, but now sleet and groupel and slush on the roads/paths. Could probably scrape a snowball or two off the car if desperate...
  12. It's still only 2 degrees here with a zero dewpoint. I'm hoping that'll stay for the main band - ETA about an hour at a guess? Snow still lying on the grass but green poking through now... ETA dewpoint now -1!!!
  13. A covering here in Knutsford although it's melted on the roads already. We had the most awesome hail/groupel thunder and wind storm last night though leaving a cm or so of balls everywhere - looked amazing!
  14. Did I ask something naughty? Go on, mine's just dropped to zero - is that looking sexy? ETA It's raining. What's new?!
  15. Can someone explain to an ignoramus the relevance of dewpoints to snowman making please?
  16. Still feeling mild and windy here in Knutsford. Temp 6 degrees, dewpoint 1 and 71% humidity our mates at the airport say and I'd agree with them - definitely feels nothing like snow weather out there!
  17. Well we've woken to it still here, although ice or something fell on top as it's very crispy! 2-3 inches all around - everything well covered from where we made the snowman/dog at 8pm. But we're off out soon as there's a steady 'drip drip' from the trees...!
  18. Well, as long as some of it hangs around for the morning for the kids, I'll be happy! 3 inches here but I can hear the wetter stuff threatening... fingers crossed!
  19. We've been under 'freezing rain' for the last 2 hours apparently according to Rain Today! Over 3 inches of 'freezing rain' that we've made a snowman out of!
  20. Yay. at long last! I've been willing it 10 miles up the road!!!
  21. Suddenly gone quiet on the window, checked Manchester airport - temp now 1, dewpoint 0, and lo and behold, it's heavy snow. Hold on Macclesfield, it's heading your way!!!
  22. It's most peculiar here - strange ice pellets for the last hour and a half or so. They're incredibly loud on the window, bounce off the roof and are having no effect on the 3cm of snow that we had earlier - nothing melting, just shooting holes in it when you look closely! Can someone send back the big stuff please? ;-)
  23. Ice pellets mixed in with snow about an hour ago, so we ran into the garden and made a very amateur 6 foot snow lady and snow dog! Gradually turning to icy sleety stuff (still bouncing off the coat) with a few flakes mixed in. Still like that now - well, at least my new waterproof trousers worked!
