  1. Just looked out the window at work (near Liverpool Airport) and it's as dark as night with very heavy rain!
  2. The rain here has been so heavy in the last 1/2 hour that the traffic was slowing everywhere and the streets looked like rivers. Is that storm in the midlands moving Manchester way? Looks possible on the rain radar...
  3. Seems we had a power surge here during the storm (just stopped raining) and now have no water! Carinthian, can you lend me a kettle full please?!
  4. It's still raining torrentially (just had hail too) AND thundering with loads of flashes (some impressive strikes!)... and the sun is out! I'm just up the road from Carinthian at a guess - about 3 miles closer to Manchester airport. I wonder if this is the last of it - my rain radar link's not updating.
  5. Tell me about it! Conservatory leak has soaked 4 towels so far! It's moving off towards the NE now here so still a rumble a minute, but it was overhead. Rain's starting up again now, but it's brighter than it was.
  6. Spoke too soon! Can see it all now! A couple of miles away at the moment...
  7. Rain's just reached me and thunder every minute. Huge clouds but no lightning yet
  8. We have some massive cumulous shooting up to the east here, black at the bases. Really seem to be developing, but they're not diverting the manchester planes as yet...
  9. BBC Breakfast NW news reported funnels, an intense storm (10+ strikes per minute) and two houses struck by lightning and set on fire in and around Southport at 2am. Missed that one... again!
  10. Sorry, that's my fault - I put shorts on this morning! Is there any chance of this cloud breaking at all today? The north-west was meant to be in the firing line for any activity, and we've not even seen the sun yet!
  11. Sorry, I've been smelling it out the window ... but it seems to be bypassing us. Bum!
  12. I must be just round the corner from you then! Do you think we're going to get anything or will it miss us? I have to pop out to the supermarket and don't want to miss the excitement!
  13. Can see the tops of distant big cumulous to the south of here, so I'm guessing it could be the storm that's in Staffordshire at the moment? Keep sending it our way!
  14. Very dark with heavy rain just started here (5 miles SW of Manchester airport - I'm sure I posted SE yesterday, must have been the wine!) but no thunder as yet. Muggy as anything though!
  15. Just having our 2nd one here now, worse than the first, but no thunder this time. Our road is a swimming pool! ETA 3 bath towels and 5 teatowels drenched. We really need to get the conservatory leak fixed, but it only ever happens in really torrential rain!
  16. Torrential rain, electricity dips, distant rumbles and black clouds here - 5 miles SE of Manchester Airport. Anyone know if something's kicking off, as the conservatory's starting to leak!
  17. It's very dark and oppressive here - 5 miles SE of Manchester Airport. Nothing happening, just a big black ominous cloud overhead not moving much...
  18. All stopped now, just drizzling. Still, it provided a bit of excitement for 1/2 hour!
  19. Yup, it's pretty heavy rain now and extremely blustery! Time to get the towels out as the conservatory leaks in downpours like this!
  20. Just come to post about our stormette - some nice rumbles and flashes and torrential rain here - we're about 5 miles SW of Manchester airport.
  21. It took me about 5 minutes to determine a direction! Seems to be building in size... can you send it back our way please?
  22. At a guess, northwards - seems to be heading towards Manchester Airport away from us... Lots of little rumbles and a couple of loud ones here in East Cheshire.
  23. That area of rain and thunderstorms has just hit us in NW Cheshire! Stubbs
  24. Erm, I seem to be in the minority here but we're having the most massive storm here in Cheshire - near Manchester Airport. Torrential rain, maybe a strike a minute (so not too active) but enough water to make the rain pour down the INSIDE of the conservatory and flood the patio and road to a couple of inches deep! Seems to be easing a little now, but has been here a good 3/4 hour... Stubbette
  25. Ours has moved off from Knutsford now - passed to the east of us, heading north, probably along the pennines. A couple of great close c-t-g strikes, and loads of rain. Still very muggy. S
