It could be as deep as upto about 24 UK mountains down! Which seems quite a long way. -

I wonder if there is anything that could be put in there that spiders don't like? Hmmm. Very small mothballs maybe - spiders are a bit like moths only they have more legs and eyes , but less wings. -
was watching one of the news feeds posted on here earlier. Emergency services were trying to persuade some folk to leave, but they wouldn't have it - that's their last chance. Some other guy was saying he's staying put because he lives on high ground. One of the news men said 'high ground' just meant the house was on stilts! Judging by some of the images already, 20ft+ on top and the waves too, wow - major disaster.

MetO Weather warning watch
I can't believe it's not better replied to The PIT's topic in Spring Weather Discussion
You didn't mention it PIT, but there was a Meto warning for NI issued for heavy rain this PM. GFS was pointing at this also on the 12z with some CAPE around there , also some -2LI and zilch inhibition. Just looked at the radar accumulated precip in the last 12 hrs, and there's 20 - 30mm spread around - I was watching till 2.00pm and not much going on, so there must have been some heavy rain about this pm? :o -

Monsanto
I can't believe it's not better replied to PersianPaladin's topic in Space, Science & nature
Jan, Nestle gave free samples of their baby feeding milk to mothers in 3rd world countries. After they got got 'hooked' they increased the price, increased the price, increased the price etc. They don't just make chocoloate and coffee for westerners. To be honest, it's way past my bedtime to be having a serious disco on this. -
Monsanto

Monsanto are the scum of the earth. Closely followed by Nestle, Barclays bank and the Student loans company. I only wish I could boycott all of those. I can at least pinch biros from Barclays bank. (Oh, someone already has!) -

You'd jump too Hannegan, if you'd been trying to keep your nose above water for so long and then suddenly a great giant friendly gurning hand reached down and libererated you from that sticky meniscus watery hell hole. -

Was reading a Forestry Commision book recently Russ, an interesting section in there about the different amounts of insects various trees support. The oaks clearly support the most diverse and abundant habitats. -
London Tube
I can't believe it's not better replied to PersianPaladin's topic in Space, Science & nature
Been on the tube a few times when I lived in the smoke for a bit (quite a handy way of getting around town). Hadn't realised it was so hot to be honest. Smelly, yes. How about, erm, some intakes at the front that blast air through the carriages as it trundles along, thus evaporating water from our stinking sweaty bodies, taking the heat with it. Dunno. (This of course will be no use when it inevitably just stops in the middle of nowhere, plunging you into total darkness, leaving you wondering why it's stopped, and getting a bit of a sweat-on worrying about the next train coming along, and whether everyone's going to die in a nasty collision). Leaves on the line - presumably not! -
