It would be interesting to see a second graph showing the number of days per year with maximum temperature over 30c.

Finally had a decent storm, the first of 2021. Lasted
about 2 hours with fairly intense rainfall but never anything exceptional. Lightning about every minute at the peak with a few good CGs. I'd say it looked better on the radar than it was.I'd give it a 6/10, definitely one I'll remember.

Had some heavy rain but nothing exceptional. Heard a few rumbles of thunder but no visible lightning yet - I suppose that counts as a storm.
Looks like there may be more to come.
And there is! Heavy rain again and a CG nearby (I think), set off a car alarm.

A heavy shower has just popped up here out of nothing. Not showing on the radar yet. Could be the start of something

Absolutely nothing of note here. It's that calm I'm going to take the dog out.
To be fair I could hear some distant rumbles, either that or some planes heading to Heathrow.
What does everyone think about the chances for later today?

Great to see that the radar doesn't always paint a true reflection.
Just looks like a decaying mass of moderate rain as it nears London with hardly any strikes detected? I guess you are seeing CC lightning?
Just seen you have CG

It's started raining here but the radar doesn't look like it'll produce anything lightning. I'm hoping what's come ashore in East Sussex might intensify and head this way.
I hope so as not yet had anything in 2021 despite all the warnings!

The CET minimum for April-May was about 3.4C, coldest CET minimum since at least 1878
The CET minimum for 3rd April-2nd May was a remarkable 0.7C (April was 1.0C) which was a record
Are there any later 30 day periods below 1?

Every time I see one of these type of videos it always amazes me how fast people drive in such conditions.

The intensity here has increased and there are hints that snow is trying to settle. Mainly a flash of white where the wind has blown it into a corner.

I’m quite a bit further out in the suburbs, probably why. Chingford is on the border of Gtr London and Essex.
I've just been out with the dog. The snow is incredibly dry, it was just blowing past me and so didn't get wet at all. But it isn't settling so I can only guess that the temperature is too high at the surface and the snow isn't heavy enough to bring the temperature down.

I’m not too far from you, snowing here in NE London, settling on grass and roofs. Looks nice and powdery.
Not settling here yet

It's snowing here and there is a strong wind blowing it horizontal. Looks like the ground will stay wet without it settling for now at least. A good day to not have to go out.

I was on a rooftop tonight in London and the flashes to the south were sporadic but spectacular when they happened. Didn't hear any thunder though and by the time it was above us the lightning had stopped.
