That reading is from a different site to the Durham Uni Observatory at Potters Bank. The AWS readings you quote are from the Geography Dept AWS. However, once the official max is in tomorrow we’ll know for sure. I expect 35-36 degC
Where is the Geography Dept? I just walked past the Potter's Bank site last week.

Durham Uni station just shy of 100F at 37.6C. If that is confirmed it's 4.7C higher than the previous record.

Teesside, Newcastle, Loftus, Albermarle all around 34-35C so would be amazed if Durham hasn't beaten its record comfortably
Weather station reporting 35.9c so that's +3c on old record and more to come.

35.2c in Durham at 12.57...
That's nearly 3 degrees higher than the max at the same location yesterday, and still feasibly a couple of hours warming to go.
Previous record 32.9c so record could be 4 or 5c higher once all is done.

More of a cloudy start here this morning, but the clouds are now breaking up with some sunshine. 20°c currently, feels very warm and muggy. Top temperature expected to be 25°c today.
It's been cloudy most of the day and doesn't look like we'll get to 25.

98mph at Brizlee Wood not exactly right on the coast so must have been some 100mph+ winds.

Reduced risk of coupleing over Greenland... Although I guess we still have be concerned about an uncoupled trop vortex over Greenland...
What would be nice by own simple logic is coupled vortex over Asia?
When did we last have a coupled vortex over Asia?

New vent at La Palma. Doesn't look lik to an eruption winding down.

Some ground frost here this morning in a few places.

The lava flow is back flowing onto the banana plantations. It would be good to see it reach the sea again and start building new land rather than seeing it destroy more towns.

I'm going to revise my guess down to 8.2

La Palma, on twitter saying cone collapsed in earlier and then followed by 600m lava fountain. Must be the most activity yet.

New map out showing the extent of the lava flow on La Palma. I thought it was looking like the lava flow would reach the sea again but unfortunately it's seems like it's spreading further and further North towards more populated areas.

As @Nick L suggested, elsewhere, we could be seeing some new date records being set towards the end of the month. The potential for Fohn winds could help too. Aboyne?
Is that a medicane near to Greece?

Some fairly vigorous strombolian activity last night.
And does this tweet mean there is a new vent?

Woken up to rain hammering on the window and the radar looks completely different to what the Met Office were forecasting just last night.
