  1. After a lull its coming down pretty heavy again, getting on for 2" now and roads treacherous.
  2. Pretty heavy and building up everywhere here between Winchester and Basingstoke, some mighty large flakes.
  3. I would have said we have been bone dry this month, except last week when we were caught in the London, Surrey, Hampshire strip that had 12 hours of constant rain so the garden is looking healthy. Personally I love settled weather in September and with the prospect of several days of sunny weather coming up I am happy
  4. BBC still seem to be overplaying the rain in the south, we had a short spell of light rain early this morning, its now bright with patches of blue sky and looking at the radar I cannot see where much more rain is likely to come from
  5. It does semm to be an ok week here in the south which we would have been happy with in 2007 and 2008 but I would love to see a cloudless blue sky all day here inland, I cant recall one of those since 2006, on the good days there has always been some cumulus or high cloud around
  6. Just got off the train from London where it was very warm to a much cooler dry but cloudy middle of Hampshire, seems like all the rain is literally been a few miles to my east for a while, I have not heard a rumble of thunder this year and am not confident it will happen today, seems a lot less humid than this morning but here's hoping
  7. I'm a little confused, here in mid Hants we were told this morning that there is likely to be heavy showers by this time this evening but the skies are clear and it seems a little less humid than afternoon, so has the potential 'activity' moved eastwards? or will it wave back later tonight?
  8. Note to the Met Office and BBC, you said showers south of the M4 corridor would be light and isolated today - they have been beefy and frequent!
  9. Having a very basic understanding of the models they dont look great for the week ahead but in this part of the country summer so far has been better than the last 2 years. For me as long as there is some sun its ok, at this time of the year no matter where the wind comes from it feels warm in the sun, yesterday was grim but today is shorts and patio windows open again, I cannot remember that happening much in 2007 and 2008.
  10. Clear skies over Winchester apart from a great view of an anvilhead to the north, must be the cell over Reading looking at the radar
  11. Third day in a row feeling like Spring here, I would love to think that Winter is over and thoughts of the cold are past but I know its too early for that even in Sunny Hampshire but at least the sun is getting stronger and the days longer. I always think March is a great month with allsorts of weather but at least its the right side of Winter
  12. The BBC South Today forecast was pretty vague, they said that 10cms could fall but not where and from what I can see will only be parts of Dorset, then the graphic showed lots of snow showers for South Hants tomorrow but then barely mentioned it on the forecast but talked about lots of snow wed eve into thurs but the symbol had rain for thurs and 7c. Not impressed by their latest intake of forecasters to say the least!
  13. Interesting on the radar that the snow band is now pivoting centred on the Bournemouth area, will this move more east and north?
  14. Have you looked out of the window recently, its pretty heavy again here now, on its way down the A303 to Wiltshire
  15. You must have snow in Basingstoke - we have a good covering here just past Popham off the A303?
  16. First few flurries now coming down, looking at the radar this could stay with us for a while, seems to be trialing down the M3
  17. I'm 10 miles east of Andover and the showers are almost knocking on my door now, just don't die on me now!
  18. News24 seem to indicate heavy snow mostly in a band south of London across Surrey and Hampshire, this will suit me nicely but am prepared to clearly see green grass in the morning!
  19. Nothing but sunny skies in mid-Hampshire, anyone know when our highest chance of decent snow is please?
  20. I have to put in another vote for Hampshire - even the thundersnow was no more than an inch. Apart from that I think its 1996 when we had 2" which had all gone in 24 hours. I remember the late 70's and early 80's there would be more than this several times a year. On the plus side we get the best weather when theres a northerly or north easterly in the summer
  21. Miserable day here but not very windy and just heavy drizzle most of the day, nothing to write home about just rubbish for August.
  22. Think so Beka but I think its heading towards Basingstoke and developing so they could be in for a good storm soon
  23. Heavy rain for the last 20 mins but starting to clear I think, some thunder as well
  24. This rain is reluctant to give up - I have seen the back edge to the south east of here for an hour now but its still raining and where it is clearer the clouds are going in all directions
