got a good 4 or 5 inches here and just had a fairly heavy shower. looks like we could be in for some more heavy stuff tomorrow morning. this is the most i have seen in my lifetime (that i can remember) and its about time too. Edit: just had a proper measure on the road and we have just over 6 inches

so who caused global warming last time the planet went hot...apes driving their cars???....and who caused the last ice age??? its just another one of earths changes and like it or not... all we can do is slow the process down but its going to happen one way or the other. its natures way...and lets face it, nobody knows what she has planned next!

that would be the one thats just passed over here then. cracking storm isn't it?! heres another pic to add to the other 2.

cracking thundery shower just passed over here lasting half hour, 15 minutes of that was constant thunder i.e. no break between rumbles and frequent flashes of fork and sheet lightning. incredible anvil came over will post some pics now and some more later when i've sorted through them. it was heading north-east getting louder as it goes.

heres another tornado that formed over bourne (20 miles from p'boro) on the same day:

the thing round here is the tornados or funnels haven't always come with a storm. admittedly the two biggies i've caught on camera (last years and friday 22nd june 07) did come with cracking storms but the day on which the three funnels were spotted together were relatively calm and dry and they just appeared for no apparent reason.

out in the fens here i have seen as many if not more than you guys in the past two years, so now regularly keep an eye out and take a drive out into the fields with very much success. the only explanation i have is the moisture from the fens? edit: the storms mentioned in my signature are the tornados, funnels etc i have seen around bourne, and do not include peterboroughs or spaldings...just within the ten miles of the bourne area.

max 20c funnel cloud at 6pm 35 ml rain between 6pm and 6.30pm 55ml since 4pm gorgeous sunny, cool evening

sorry this is the biggest image i have but it made ground contact taking down trees which then damaged some cars. it was a confirmed tornado but this picture was taken at an early stage from a distance in my car, unfortunately all i had was my phone to take a pic rather than a camera.

this is the Bourne (lincs) Tornado.

turned incredibly dark to my south south west now and it hasn't stopped raining here for the last hour. going by the radar heavy rain should come along shortly but anyone know if these are still active? (i'm not far west of the wash)

well by the looks of things TRL we will get this, or at least some of it soon. hopefully it won't die out too much before hand.

having our first proper downpoor today with big raindrops. it had been drizzle up until now. hopefully a sign of things to come.

been drizzly and dark here for last 2 hours. if any storms do decide to call on me, hopefully it will be dark. anyone closely south of me had anything yet?

well unfortunately for me the heaviest of these showers are everywhere but over me and will just miss me all night. Looks like all i shall witness is rain so hopefully some of you get some nice pics up on here to keep us without storms happy

at 12pm it looked as if there was a small 'eye' as it were to the developed storm. still incredibly intense now though just a little more spread out. What are the odds of this being underestimated by metO for the time it reaches us?

have a look at the metoffice radar and watch the progression of the storms in northern france over the last 2 hours. you'll see what he means.

those storms in France do look incredibly intense and have formed from no where...i'd love to be there at the moment!

well theres been lightning detected just west of me and there's a couple of beefy showers coming this way going by the radar, the skys gone dark...just hope i see a little action
