  1. Morning Folks Just driven from London to Dover, started in London in the dry at 2 degrees, and arrived in Dover in the pouring rain with temps around 6 degrees Cheers FC
  2. Right I am off to start my epic trip back home.. London to Bordeaux via Leigh on Sea.. lets see how far I get, I still have no idea if I will get over the Thames tomorrow morning at 5:00am Cheers FC
  3. I really hate these types of posts, but how much certainty is there of snow coming back to the SE corner this evening and over night. I have to drive to Dover for a 6:30am ferry tomorrow morning, so wondering what my chances of making it are.... Cheers FC
  4. Nice photos TEITS.. glad you finally got a decent fall, and still more to come Cheers FC
  5. Morning Folks The thaw is well under way in SE London, I do not think too much rain fell last night as there is still snow covering the cars in my area. No snow left in central London, well not around Holborn anyway. I'm glad some of you got a decent pasting last night, enjoy..... Cheers FC
  6. Morning Folks Well the thaw is well underway in South East London this morning, last of the slithering to the station for a while, obviously not too much rain fell last night as there is still snow on the cars in my road. Cheers FC
  7. just the odd flake around Lewisham probably being blown over from Shooters hill or up from Bexleyheath.... stilll got a nice orange sky here Cheers FC
  8. I've no weather station here so I cannot check dew points, but the sky has gone very orange over this bit of SE London, not sure what is going to fall, but nothing at the moment Cheers FC PS should have been in bed ages ago....
  9. Got to head for my bed now, wonder what I will be walking through on my way to the station tomorrow morning, lots of water probably. Looks I am going to miss another weekend snow event and I could be driving back from SW France for the second week in a row, if the 18z is anywhere near right. Enjoy the rest of the night.... FC
  10. This low still looks like it is pushing in a nne direction, I was expecting it to start swinging north then nnw FC
  11. Funny, reports coming in from Dorset coast of 50p snowflakes and the radar is showing rain.... FC
  12. Evening Folks I still think we will only see rain to the South and East of London, the temps will rise as the clouds roll over, having said that the lying snow in the side roads here in SE London is frozen hard and very dangerous at the moment. Wonder if I will be suprised when I wake up at 5:00am tomorrow... probably not... I expect rain and the snow to have been washed away Cheers FC
  13. Hi Folks I fear there is a lot of straw clutching going on at the moment, TBH I think this will be a rain event for most of the south eastern corner of the UK. We may have to put our hopes in a reload around valentines day. Cheers FC
  14. Morning Folks Looks like the downgrades are getting the upper hand for the south eastern corner over the next three days. BBC has rain all the way for anything south and east of London, with those to the north & west of London getting rain and snow. GFS also downgrading for the SE corner, though the Midlands and West still looks like they could get a decent amount of snow, still abit of time to go yet, lets see what today brings. To be honest that suits me as I have to drive to Bordeaux on Friday morning and on current viewing I'll get a clear run. Cheers FC
  15. Hmmm... Now you guys have got me worried, I had to drive up from Bordeaux on Monday because my flight to Stansted was cancelled, now it looks like I may not be able to drive back to Bordeaux on Friday... How much effect is this event on Thursday and Friday going to have on northern France, at the moment they are just showing rain on the Europeans... Cheers FC
  16. Morning folks Icy morning in SE London with a few snow flurries in the air, very slippery under foot, took the sensible route to the station, i.e. I walked in the road, its much safer than the foot path at the moment. It was still Icy in the city of London too, I expected the thaw to have already started, but the foot paths are frozen solid. no wind to speak of at either so it should be a crisp winters day with a thaw setting in around the middle of the day. Cheers FC

  18. Jeek The day did start with Ryanair cancelling my flight from Limoges to Stansted... Cheers FC
  19. Folks I have to say I did not see a single snow flake falling over the entire drive from Bordeaux to Lewisham,. Lots and lots of rain even in Kent I only saw rain. Cheers Fc
  20. Evening Folks Well, whats all the fuss about.... just driven from Bordeaux to Lewisham, not a single hold up or problem, made it in the time I usually do in the dry. So I guess congratulations to the authorities for keeping the main roads of France and Kent clear.... Now just have to get to Stansted airport to rescue my other car from the airport car park, that might be a bit more of a challenge than the drive I've just done. Cheers FC
  21. Morning Folks Well looks like the snow really has come, I've not even got off first base with my travel plans as my flight from Limoges to Stansted has been cancelled, so I can't get back to see the snow. I'm thinking of driving back but there is no point if the M20 and the M2 are closed. Anybody any idea what the latest status is on those motorways.. Cheers FC
  22. Morning folks Well looks like we are in for a real 1980's style wintery week or so... the South East always does best if the heaviest of the snow hits over night for maximum accumulation, at least thats what used to happen in the 80's, so it looks like Monday night could be a classic, fingers crossed. I shall be watching this thread closely as I am flying in to Stansted tomorrow morning from Limoges, then driving to Nottingham Monday afternoon and then back down to London monday evening. At this rate I mat be better off leaving my car at the airport and hiring a 4x4 :-) Cheers FC
  23. Hi Nick Glad you and your family survived the storm, up here in the Charente we battened down the hatches but most of the destructive winds stayed to our south, but your right the next problem is heavy rain on already saturated ground. I fully expect flooding in and around our area, judging by the amount of rain forcast though we are lucky to be on top of an incline, not steep enough to be a hill, but enough to ensure we have not problems with flooding. Never a dull moment weatherwise in SW France, though we could probably do without these extremities Cheers & keep safe FC (currently sitting in a very wet Limerick)
  24. Morning Folks There are still loads of home without power here in SW France and I know nicks area is in the centre of it, so hopefully he will get his power restored sometime today. I am about 150 miles north of Nick and we were just outside the 'red zone' and although the power did not go off here it was like living in a disco at times as the wind blew the power cables around, so we left the computer off until the storm past yesterday evening. I hope your OK Nick Cheers FC
  25. Morning Folks Positively tropical in SE London this morning, no frost or ice around anymore just a bit overcast and damp, probably around 3 degrees... Cheers FC
