    Amazing the school was open today, as it was their decision and not the council's The kids actually wanted to go as they were fed up of making snowmen and sledging No-one can EVER be fed up of doing that. I'll make them some whilst they are at school so hopefully they won't melt too much until the next cold spell.

    Keep having power cuts and it's only been snowing for almost 2 hours. About 1cm already.

    Power went off earlier this afternoon when the wind started to pick up. Now it seems to have been fixed. Just started to snow here, quite heavy and horizontal, temp actually crept up to 2.1c at 5pm but since then it has now dropped to 0.7c Lets see what the morning brings

    Do you think it will hang around this area all night and into tomorrow? Better get my video camera out this evening, just in case. Not seen a proper blizzard for years! Pity it's all going to melt by Saturday, but with over 1 week of snow on the ground, this spell has been amazing

    I think we'd better watch Mr Angwin tonight before getting too exited. Matty on TWO says that Mr Angwin has downgraded the snow now as the front will fall apart as it gets to Bristol. This was on the radio this PM. Best to just see what comes out of the sky tomorrow evening and see what happens, but it will still be if it has all gone pete tong.

    This will all end in tears by Wednesday morning you know. According to the models thread, the cold spell is at an end for good by the weekend with two digit temps. If Dan Corbett is saying it will snow then I think he is being cruel to us

    Light snow falling, temp 1.6c. My old snow is melting . At least it's a long slow thaw, but does not look that good for next week either. OK the fronts get pushed back and we get a bit of snow but the temp day and night will be 3c approx. Dull,grey and damp week coming up. At least all the kids can go back to school and no-one will miss their exams :lol:

    BBC forecasts all over the place. First they show snow all over the South, then only for the S.E Now some people say that the snow event is over and the SW won't see anything Sunday and Monday? What is going on? I think we should just stick our heads out of the window and watch the radar and ignore the TV forecasts as they are all over the place? Is it supposed to be getting milder with rain by Wednesday?

    Much colder today, even out of the wind -3c on car thermometer. School is still closed but two just one mile away are open and they have worse roads than us I suppose this is the last of the snow until a little dusting on Sunday and they can go back to school on Monday...don't dissapoint me

    Got down to -9.9c last night. Looks wonderful today, sparkling snow, nothing moving. Just feel like I'm in Canada again

    Anyone who managed to get to work this morning will need to come home a bit earlier as all this snow with slush on the roads and pavements is going to be an ice rink pretty quickly Wonder if the schools will be open in the morning? :lol:

    We've got a good 6 inches here and still snowing! Several neighbours have gone to work anyway and the local farmer has been up and down the main road with his snowplough. Not too bad as temp 0.1c BUT tonight everything will freeze and the morning will be MUCH worse. Kids loving it though, no school today, not even any buses or school buses!

    Trying to snow here, bits drifting about in the wind, which has picked up. At least the temp has gone down to -1.0c. Even the local 'yoof' has been out, trying to pelt people's windows already. Feel like its going to be a long day tomorrow with them being off school. Should I stock up on snowballs now?

    Got a call from the school to come and pick up the kids at 2.30pm, we got to play in the snow for about 1hour, then temp rose to +2c after the snow stopped and now it is at 0.9c and not moving. Looks like school will be open in the morning...never mind

    Even getting seagulls at the bird feeder now. Not had that before Wildlife outside is stocking up. I'm down the shops later, get some more bread in

    Just starting to snow here. All the birds are going mad at the bird feeders, they know the snow is a coming!

    Sunshine and blue skies here, temp -1.2c. Very dark grey clouds to the NW of here though. Gonna be an interesting school run at around 3.30pm
