Cold last night -4.5c and my kids were VERY dissapointed to find out that their school is open, when all the others are shut due to ice or heating problems. They had a bit of a play in the snow this morning and said it was TOO COLD <_<

Went for a walk in the fields and you usually can't see a thing as no streetlights but tonight everything is glowing white and its great! Don't think the schools will be open tomorrow as it's going to be really icy! Just a pity that it's going to rain for the rest of the week

It's been snowing lightly for almost 6hrs now! And going by the radar that blue blob near Bristol seems to be just spinning in the same spot and not moving. I'm going for a walk as it looks SOOOO NICE out there at the moment! B)

Yay! Temp dropping now 0.9c and the heavy snow is starting to stick to my wet car and the wet road. Better call my other half and tell him to leave work early! Kids are going to have fun coming out of school later today, lots of snowmen (even if i have to make them myself)

We've been having quite large snowflakes and almost blizzard conditions since 1pm and its intensified again. Nearly an inch on the grass but its not settling on the road and pavements (not treated). So it must be quite wet snow. The temp is 0.5c so it just needs to get a little bit colder and then it will stick to everything! BBC weather graphics are getting on my nerves. Keep showing the snow at around 8pm in S.Gloucs area and then it magically "Jumps" over to Cardiff and stays there all night! Not fair! :lol:

I DON'T BELIEVE IT! Had some proper snow this morning. Its now snowing heavy and turning to sleet! and melting all the snow that fell earlier. What is going on?? Hope it's not frozen rain as its -1c out there at the moment.

A few flakes have shot past our lampost for about 5 mins but now clearing and i can see stars towards the East. This is worse than waiting for Xmas! Just have to see what Santa brings in the morning

Can't wait either. I'm on the start of the hills going up into the Cotswolds and we usually do quite well from any snowfall. Last time we had proper snow was back in December 2000! Ever since then it has just been dustings that all melted by the afternoon. Wonder how many schools are going to be closed?

So this is a BIG DOWNGRADE then. Whats the point of snow if it gets washed away by rain a few hours later. We will never learn. If the METO warn of snow it will be a let down. If they don't give any warning then we'll get blizzards :winky:

Is this Easterly going to last all week or is it just a 2 day cold snap? I want to use my sledge in the Cotswolds before it all gets washed away by rain

Wow, had almost 1hr of heavy snow, around 2cm settled, mostly on the grass and car. The Cotswold hills above Wotton are all white and as i type the sky has been going v.grey and full of it. And now its SNOWING heavily again. Loving it . The showers are coming from the NW.

Hving a heavy shower of large snow grains at present and they seem to be turning into flakes of snow. Only been coming down for 3 mins so far and the grass is getting covered, but its melting on the road. Wasn't expecting anything today. Especially as the snow event for later this week seems to have been dismissed by the BBC forecasters.

Slight snow here blowing in the wind, temp 2.2c and it seems much colder than earlier this morning. Would not be surprised to see a slight covering come friday morning- here's hoping!

Been a lovely sunny day. Temps started to drop sharply at around 5pm and already a frost starting on the car at 6pm. Temp now -2c and clear skies. Got the car covered old blankets as i can't stand scrapping ice every morning.

Light drizzle and just had a burst of snow grains for about 5 mins, just started to accumulate at edge of path then it stopped and all melted! Drizzle started up again, temp 3c.

Hi everyone, been snowing since 4.45pm but it is light and only a dusting on roads/cars and grass. Hopefully it might pep up before turning to rain, my 3yr old wants to build a snowman before bedtime

Wow, just started to snow here, massive snowflakes, covering the grass, cars- everything very quickly. Temp dropped from 2.2c to 0.5c in just 10 mins. My cat is going nuts!! first time he's seen snow. LOL. :lol:
