  3. Hi All, Love this thread....fabulous..... My snowman was built on 19th January and is still going strong..... In know I'm cheating with -28 degrees sometimes (not including the windchill), but I reckon this snowman will last a while longer as I think we may have a couple of snowstorms heading our way again next week as well as light snow over the weekend.........mind you yesterday saw a little melt as the temps got to 3 degrees and we had rain too.....but only made a small dent. Lets see if an ex pats can beat a true brits snowman...... TTFN Debs
  4. Hi all, Well the snow storm started around 11am and we have a couple of inhes already, its just starting to get heavy and the winds are picking up. Looks like we are in for another blustery night tonight. Hope you all enjoyed the snow in the UK. I hear theres more on the way........excellent. TTFN Debs
  5. Hi BL You osund just like me....all excited over snow falling.....enjoy. Debs
  6. Afternoon everyone. Well made it through the last storm, which was'nt too bad considering. Woke up with lots of ice everywhere from the frozen rain. Very pretty. Wind kept e awake most of the night though......had another 5cms of snow locally today, terrible to drive in but managed to get back from Sussex without ditchig the car....phew! This coming storm, I hope it comes our way. Would love to have another nice big dumping as I think it may be the last big load of the season. Will keep a close watch. Already some TV forecasts have said 30 to 40cms here.....but we will see. Hope all you Brits get a great white out.......why is it that it snows now in UK when I moved to Canada......talk about sods law.....lol Anyway have fun and don't get too bruised sledging. TTFN Debs
  7. Hello All, With temps being below zero for quite some time now, here are some photos of the Icicle laden sea caves of St Martins, New Brunswick. The last picture is one of my daughter laying down next to a broken "icicle" than has been broken off by the sea. She is approx 4 foot 8 inches tall herself. Just to put the size of some of these icicles into prospective. Enjoy  Debs PS: Not sure how to resize, but feel free to make them smaller if you can.
  8. Hi all, Yes the weather warnings are in place for us as I type. Set to drop quite a bit of snow today and overnight. I hope it doesn't turn to rain too much. We still have what can only be described as and ice rink on the driveways of nearly every house in the village from last weeks freezing rain and rain event. Temps are set to rise to around 2 degrees by morning but then drop again by tomorrow afternoon. I managed to get a couple of pictures of the trees after the ice storm. Enjoy. Will keep you posted if I still have power tomorrow. TTFN Debs
  9. Hi Steve, I'm not cold in this house, as mentioned the houses are well insulated. I have the temp set to 18 degrees and its not clicked on for a while and the room temp is reading 22 degrees and that is all solar heatshining through the window...... I have a huge 10 foot wide window facing south and the Bay of Fundy and the sun is gloriously hot. I'm sure on my deck the ground temps are alot higher. Its different here that in the Uk because we tend to get lots of sunshine during the winter instead of the grey skies of the UK. When we visited back in 2006 it was -6 and windchills were -14 BUT over on PEI (Prince edward Island) where we were visiting, there were people sitting on their decks. we realise now that out of the wind and in the sun, you can do that here, even with minus temps as the sun is strong.......its a different kind of cold. One to be experienced. TTFN Debs

They`ll probably get a 22 year old buff man or woman....not ordinary joe public.
  13. Hi all. Thanks for your advice on holiday temps. Will let the in laws know. Weather here is great. - 17 with a windchill of -25, doesn't feel too bad in the sun. Had another 4 inches of snow yesterday......not forecast for this region but came anyway. Hoping for a snow storm mid week. http://nwstatic.co.uk/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif Pictures are of frozen stream down by the beach. Incidently, the harbour has an ever thckening crust of ice forming over it. Enjoy Debs
  14. Hi Guys, First of all, hope you all have a great 2009. We have snow here today and theres quite a bit falling. It started at 2pm ish and we already have a foot of snow. Ice pellets and frozen rain are forecast for overnight so kids may be off tomorrow, although temps are set to rise to about 3 degrees so we will just have to wait and see. Now for a question. We are planning a mini road trip next year to santa Fe, Grand Canyon and Las Vegas, might even pop over the border into death valley. what sort of temps can we expect, that far into the USA around August next year. Have retired family coming to join the trip, so just wanting to prepare them. Cheers in advance. TTFN debs
  15. Hi All Merry Christmas everyone. Thanks for your worries. we made it through the storm safely, although the winds were horrendous. Power went out for a day. Lots of trees down and snow drifts upto 6 ft high in places. On the ground the snow depth was probably only another 30cms on top of the last snow fall. Mind you when the power is out theres only one thing you can do to keep warm......and thats sledging. Video attached. At my age, I feel al lthose bumps the next day....ouch, but what great fun. I hear another storm is on the way. Wind is not going to be too bad this time only getting to around 80km so at least the roof will stay on (i hope) http://nwstatic.co.uk/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif Have a great White Christmas TTFN Debs xxx 100_1257.mov
  16. Wow, Thats so wierd seeing snow on the Palm Trees of Las vegas. Thanks for the link. Debs
  17. Evening All, Well the snow started at 9am and by the time lunchtime came we had over half a foot of snow. The snow is still falling and we have about a foot or more now. A little bit more than forecast but wonderful none the less. Managed to take some fotos. Enjoy Debs 100_1200.mov
  18. Hi all, Well a major snow storm is heading our way and may be followed by another on friday. Tomorrow snow is expected from 8am onwards with up to 20cms possible by the evening. Hope it all falls into place for Friday as that would more than guarantee us some snow for Christmas, although Boxing Day is looking promising for snow as well. I'm not an expert so if anyone on here has any more info, it will be appreciated. Current temps here are at -5 with a windchill making it only -10 so not too bad. I can see that Toronto area is going to be hit bad. Take care all. TTFN Debs x
  19. Hi All, Yes Roger we did get snow later. Winds were strong and had about 5 inches of snow in the small hours of the monring after the rainfall. Temps were only -7 but windchill took it to -17 and it got colder as the day went on so yesterdays day end temps were -15 with a windchill making it -25. Roads are okay here at the moment but we have about 25cms forecast for this afternoon beofre it turns into rain again so a bit of a mess tomorrow. Looks lovely outside. The ocean was "steaming" again, with the temps being so low and it looks like a glass sheet over the bay as its so calm. Have not managed to get any fotos yet as I have been busy working, but will take some today and post any good ones. TTFN Debs
  20. Hi All, Well the winds were definately strong last night and the waves were lashing the shore. Woke up this morning and it raining quite hard so perhaps the storms track is further west than it was predicted. It is forecast to turn to snow later in the day with another dumping in the week, I guess I'll just have to wait and see. TTFN Debs
  21. Hi All, Well the snow is avoiding us over here. Not had anymore since last weekend. More forecast later in the week, but we'l see what actually falls from the sky. Things look quite cold out in Alberta way. Stay warm folks TTFN Debs PS. Gas prices now at 77.7 cents a litre
  22. Hi All, Can clearly see them this side of the pond, they have been visible for a few days now, weather permitting of course. No light pollution here so that makes things a little easier. TTFn Debs
  23. HI all, Well this week I have had flash backs to UK weather with rain coming most days. Theres supposed to be a winter storm coming by Monday but might just be more rain for us here probably. I have heard that the long term weather is good for snow in the next fortnight, we'll see. As I type its just started raining again. Ah weel, cest la vie. TTFN Debs
  24. Hi Guys, Some lovely pictures there. I loved the steam trains and the snow Gorky, absolutely fabulous. It reminded me of Sheringham where I used to live, we had a steam railway there. Thanks for sharing your pictures. TTFN Debs
