  1. Yes it shows an increase in magma pressure I think its more shaking = higher pressure, less shaking = pressure lowering, generally. it will only be a slight increase. But still dangerous I expect. Probably means back pressure like a restriction or blockage maybe..... File1:- The Holuhraun fissure eruption.
  2. The chance of a caldera collapse at Bada is rising all the time, the collapse will be disruptive to air travel around its vicinity, 200 miles at least and any ash cloud will be predictable and avoidable at least initially in my opinion. The weather charts and diagrams on this site are among the best on the internet, if it goes up you know where to look. I would say we have passed the 50/50 threshold of a caldera event now. If it goes it will show as a mag 6+ EQ. Further, NE of Askja is in the reckoning for fissure type activity in my opinion. 50/50 chance now I would say. If the sites go down because of internet interest Keep looking at the USGS EQ site if all else overloads, at least they are ready for any viral rush..... If you are traveling by air and think you may be effected, learn how to read the basic charts on this site and you will be able to make a good judgement about delays and diversions I shalt not post any links there are enough about to find quite easily.. The fissure is still fissuring ...File Name of fissure Holuhraun, I must remember Quote IMO:- At 08:58 AM (1 Sept) an earthquake M5.0 by the northwestern rim of the Bardarbunga caldera. Report was received from Akureyri (N-Iceland) that it was felt there. Another one M5.3 occurred at similar location at 11:41. It was also felt in Akureyri.
  3. If it does that would make the fissure eruption over 70Km's long:- File 1 Solved tonight's lights:- File 2 All manually checked quakes since 16th, 31/08/2014 in red. :- File 3 Mila Bada 1 00;38z uk:- File 4 All yesterdays EQ's at Bada and the erupting fissure :- File 5
  4. Amazing how its lighting up the night sky. Yes those are 4X4's again I think. I wonder is there going to be a further fissure here at some stage:- File 2 NE of Askja. Herdbreidartogl O lordy I hope the newscasters don't have to say that one Askja has been busy with signals tonight;_ file 3 line abbreviated as "ask" seems to be the center of attention. Bada 2 view presently:- File 4
  5. The Cambridge team says it was not them and they don't know who it was. The pahoehoe lava out flow is now 3 Km² The gas is deadly sulfur dioxide there is no smoke just gas, silly people trespassing in a danger zone could die quickly as the gas turns to acid in lungs.... The eruption is showing on satellite https://earthdata.nasa.gov/labs/worldview/ File 2 Breaking out further North File 3 Its not showing on the main IMO site yet but to the NE of Askja there was this today 2014-08-31 11:04:46 -16.375 65.114 3.0 4.5 qu qu is checked manually File 4 the star is the Mag 3 Map of where I refer too file 4 Top right ghastly long Icelandic name beginning with H LOL
  6. The 4X4's are arriving on the Bada 2 cam. Plus latest fissure quakes. Fissure looks great as its getting dark. Don't for get to try the new 3D quake map http://baering.github.io/earthquakes/visualization.html or the original, http://baering.github.io/ Just click and drag the plot as needed. The amount of SO2 is considerable one ton of SO2 to one m3 of this high SO2 lava has been mooted by the well informed this evening. Fig 5 Mila showes Gas no smoke and very little steam. Volcanoes do not give off smoke never have. Oh god I have gotten different type face Carl says 1000 tons of SO2 per second. A Hawaiian eruption with the same thin lava covering up to 3 KM at the moment... Fi6 the lava run off is becoming noticeable in the darker view.
  7. Couple of official charts and maps. No un-checked data there all checked. Yet another hard to pronounce Icelandic eruption name. On the Mila 2 there is lights from a 4X4 again this time we can tell the difference between vehicles and fissure eruptions Fissure still erupting File 3.
  8. Look where the rest of the fissure swarm is headed That area has had the same thing happen before like this mornings fissure , it has flowed before, H............ long Icelandic name By the way I thought Herðubreið was out gassing slightly and making clouds stay around its top yesterday.
  9. Here is the data of the latest at the Western caldera flank. and next the Fissure eruption (not all data shown the list is big. Red circles surrounded by yellow = auto checked, time goes by and they get corrected or removed. The storm is bad enough to put out some data stations I think so the EQ data could be interrupted from here on..... Lots of shaky stations file 3 Current weather, note the Bada Mila camera shake LOL Fig 4
  10. I think you are right, the EQ or at least one EQ hit the caldera at the time (Yellow circle) there have been a few at caldera since midnight Iceland time. more fun along the fissure and North and NE of Askja.
  11. Cool I looked and managed a shot, thanks Milkmaid. Courtesy Mila Iceland. Bada 2 cam Lava composition:- http://earthice.hi.is/chemical_composition_basalt_erupted_29_august_2014_through_1797ad_holuhraun_linear_vent_system_north BBC http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-29003031
  12. Interesting developments, I think the fissure eruption has died down somewhat now. It will probably be up and down now gradually getting bigger. Or if it stops it may build up pressure and pop out elsewhere, we will see. Bada is still in danger of caldera movement and or collapse, Askja is also not what I would say normal she is stressed.... The quakes continue, though the wind makes all but the big ones hard to isolate on a chart, so the IMO won't bother, they are not daft that's what always happens. The web cams will be dirtied by the incoming storm and no doubt we will have to wait for cable guy to trundle up the mountain and refresh them after the "weather episode" is over. Great fun, main thing to watch are big quakes at Bada, Askja and the fissure, quakes that show up large and correlated 99% on the fissure its self usually means a change ,i pressure or a blockage. When in bad weather all we will have are the graphs charts and brave scientists at the fissure posting on face book, no webcams, we are so spoiled by facility's in 2014 . This will be probably the best Internet eruption on the Internet in the history of the Internet up to know, ground breaking. The first drone flights are being talked about as we post..... One more thing, this is an Icelandic eruption, expect the unexpected. The wind is starting to take effect I think, but also there may have been a larger quake just after mid day here 11:00 over there. The fissure is still erupting now 11;37 Iceland time. I wonder is anything happening NE of Askja?.....File No 4
  13. Got a funny feeling that was the guards on foot taking haste away from their guard posts back to a new line. Perhaps two wheels?
  14. nowv the area is safe from people getting fissured and stormed. No doubt we will miss it just like Grims 2011. Bloody cars Barda 2 overload well ill be....
  15. Fire..... no its a bloody van I think... Err bigger now its not a van. Will get pic next pass if the the camera behaves.
  16. Hekla strain meter is creeping up slowly I am worried that people may get caught up in this, I think Iceland may need help if the poo hits the fan here. Lets hope it goes away for a few 100's years just like that, it can. Teak no notice i worry out of hand sometimes..... Sorry wasnt paying attention large jolt just.
  17. Shown clearly here, look earlier what has not been shown on the Link you gave, quite frightening. Bitwixt 17 and 18Z Iceland time, Too complex to be revised at all. A composite Mag will be given later, say 5^..... Bet there is some steam/gas with that sand on the Mila cam's Latest revisions at file 2 Break to the right?...Too early to say but..... Nasty weather tomorrow, Iceland will be staying inside on computer and TV generally, good thing too. Just in case.
  18. Crack/fissure may be past Askja and doing its own thing.....To the NE I thik
  19. Askja is the only one talking atm. If its that young girL from Cambridge Uni and her super accurate equipment we shall see https://twitter.com/fencingtobba
  20. Askja is shaking the most atm Second file is the corrected quakes just before 1945Z. If any of the latest quakes concentrate on the Tjörnes fracture zone it is more overall rifting pressure. Likely cause more pressure on the rifting effect. Dry sand blowing on the Mila cam, I bet there is some steam too. \In the background is that steaming or gassing edifice Last file.....
  21. Today's Bada EQ's. Gut feeling still says, sods law if we have a flank collapse or a caldera collapse it happens when Mila cam is effected by bad weather. But yes the more quakes the higher the risk, especially a collapse of the very large caldera, it is that big it is hard to stop when destabilized more than is sensible. I would say that threshold has been passed, the gravity law says that the large chunk of ice was in equilibrium with its surroundings before this event. The event is still ongoing so I would say that the Volcano is highly dangerous. It can partially collapse it any time aswell which is still not nice and can be for all intents and purposes just as disrupt-able in our part of the world..... And the up tick across the board is down again as I post 1919Z file thin looking thing to show the point, these all across the board tremors are the dangerous bit. She mother Earth is speaking and she can yet shout. We are humbled I think. The large edifice on the panning bada 2 Mila cam is making clouds just like Fawley refinery viewed from The Isle of Wight (24/7 it makes clouds, sort of double polluting for refining fuel . The large edifice is a volcano that was formed under a glacier in the last ice age. In my opinion it is out gassing. One has to look over a period of days to see the relevance,
