  1. Just watching the City match on tv and they're getting pelted with snow - even having to stop the match to clear the pitch markings! What's the chances of that sort of snow heading over Huddersfield way?
  2. I've given up on snow now. Thanks to the Pennines, I don't think we'll get much, even with the heavier outlook for the showers. Decided to clos the curtains and watch the Calcutta Cup on the box instead. C'MON ENGLAND!!!!!
  3. Keep looking at willitrain.co.uk radar and I'm not too happy about the gap which seems be opening up over the Huddersfield area. Snow seems to be rushing to all areas around us but clearing over us. Really disappointed. :-((
  4. When I look on the netweather 7 day forecast for tomorrow, its saying sleet all the way through with fairly low percentages for snow. For once, I hope BBC is right...
  5. Ok, I'm about as far west as you can get without being over the tops into Lancashire, so whats the chances of us seeing some significant snowfall this weekend in West Yorkshire? This week has been a bit depressing and boring so far with cloudy skies and temps hovering around 1-2degs. It'd be lovely to get excited about something other than clouds!
  6. Short sleet shower about 30mins ago that quickly dissipated within about 5mins. Really hope that isn't it...
  7. I'm only a little bit up the road from LeeSnowFan and I'm hoping for a touch of the white stuff soon too. I must admit to not being too confident of seeing much this week though - not far enough West to get much from coming over the Pennines, and too far West to get much blown over from the East. I'd love to be proved very wrong though! :-))
  8. Heavy snow falling here and has been for the last couple of hours. 2-3cms lying from the looks of it so far.
  9. I must admit I enjoyed 2006 up here. Lovely warm weather up here, unlike the last couple of years. I bought a gas BBQ in 2007 following 2006's great outdoors cooking weather, and hardly used it last year. Think I fired it up once! Temp wise, I love my cold winters, but I love my hot summers more. Temps of 25degs+ for days on end are an ideal for me. I don't even mind the hot nights anymore as I bought a really good fan last year! LOL
  10. Just started snowing lightly here - a few flakes in the wind, which has also got up over that last 10mins or so. :winky:
  11. Woken up this morning to a beautiful crisp sunny day. A few flakes of snow have fallen in the night so there a dusting on the car, but no more than that. It is cold though - one of those morning to take the dog for a walk (if I had one! LOL) Seems to be a lot of folks from the East on here lately - obviously a few over in the West are not liking whats happening weather-wise! Really chuffed some are still getting decent falls of the white stuff. I notice that the forecasts appear to have it coming further inland from tomorrow - any guesses as to how much we'll end up with here on the Western edge of Yorkshire? It'd be lovely to see out winter with a bang!
  12. Been very grey and dull here most of the day, started to brighten up at about 12.30 and a few drops of rain fell before stopping and going back to grey and dull.
  13. Hi all, snowed continuously through last night, gave us another 3cms cover this morning. Much wetter and heavier snow than last Tuesday. Got about 1/2 a mile going to work before having to turn back, and leave my car at the edge of the village where I live. Absolute chaos on the roads. No buses because they're getting stuck on the hills coming into the village, cars blocking roads actually in the village. And it seems to be coming down harder than it was earlier. Just found out that 1 of my friends has written her car off in an accident on her way to school. She was fine, shaken up though - made it into school only to be told 10 minutes ago that they were shutting because staff couldn't get in. Gutted for her! Actually, on a slightly different note - where is this strong Easterly wind that everyone forecast? We didn't seem to get any of that last night, and its falling straight today, much like last Tuesday when we got a right dumping.
  14. It snowed here earlier for about an hour, only very light flakes - mainly floating around on the light breeze and definitely not settling. Snow melted quite extensively today. Snow that was forecast for here doesn't seem to be materializing. Am I being too downhearted or should I keep the faith and expect some more later?
  15. I'm not holding my breath for it! I haven't had much faith in BBC graphics over recent days. The Sky ones are even more ridiculous! LOL
  16. How much snow do you reckon Huddersfield will get tonight, guys n gals?
  17. Very heavy snow now - wind fair blowing as well which is stirring things up as well.
  18. Looked out of my window 5 minutes ago - sunshine, partly cloudy with the emphasis on blues sky rather than cloud. Look out now - completely clouded over and light snow shower starting. Looks to be moving from the North East - is this what brought the heavy snow to Leeds a bit earlier?
  19. Hi all, Still snowing after nearly 8 hours and we now have a depth here (HD8) of 6.5in. Its been a constant moderate snowfall with a couple of heavier bursts every hour or so. I have noticed the wind seems to have increased and we're going through one of the heavier periods of snow at the moment. I have just spoken to a friend who is in Holmfirth and she has a snow depth of 10in lying - I forgot to ask if that was just lying or where it had drifted as it is a bit exposed up there. I'm hoping for more of this for the foreseeable future - great to observe weather like this!
