  1. Dec 25th 2004. Widespread snow lying and falling in places. Where I am several inches fell later on Christmas Eve but the day itself was dry. By Boxing day a straight Northerly over much of the UK. This year models showing that almost certainly next weekend will have high pressure to the South and mild westerlies over Northern UK. Whats next is up for grabs.
  2. That very last sentence seems a little bit less sure than that in the previous updates!
  3. Tee mit rum good but far better to have heiße Schokolade mit rum. My fav drink on the slopes on a cold day
  4. New thread for winter, Is the potential high next week going to retrogress or sink?
  5. Closing this thread as getting a bit too long. New one for the heart of winter up shortly.
  6. Cool, windy and dull with rain blowing through. 5C with strong South Easterly so feeling cold. Rain to get heavier and more persistent this afternoon.
  7. Mirrored a bit here. Went to see Napoleon at the cinema this afternoon. Was -1C when we went in but over 1C when we came out and now 3.0C with a freshening breeze. The ground and even the road and pavements still look frosty and icy though.
  8. It didn't snow on Christmas day where I was then but it was very cold and there was a foot of solid frozen snow on the ground that didn't fully melt until well into February with piles at the sides of the roads etc that lasted several weeks more despite the warmer weather from mid Jan onwards.
  9. A max so far today of -1C from a min of -5.5C overnight. Bright and sunny. Could do with a few warmer days to heat the house up.
  10. A cold raw day here with temps falling away more after dark. Currently -2C with partly clear skies.
  11. Cloudy with heavy rain showers on a fresh Easterly breeze. Snow mostly been washed away. 3.5C.
  12. Last shower was rain with just a bit of sleet when heavier. Temp up to 2.2C and a definite thaw of lying snow underway
  13. Here we have gone the other way. This shower is a graupel/mostly rain mix and temp has risen from 0.0C to 0.3C in last 5 minutes.
  14. I am in the extreme West end of Dundee. Dry now but interesting to see what the next shower brings. Hoping it is of the white variety
  15. Bad news as definitely rain in the mix now as it has got lighter. Still showing -0.3C so up a notch in last half hour.
  16. Shower on now is a mix of large snowflakes, some wetter stuff and small icy bits. Lying though on the frozen surfaces. Temp -0.6C All the local weather stations are showing sub zero so I wonder is there a milder layer above?
  17. Just had a graupel shower here giving a thin new covering. First precipitation today. My temp in back garden is showing -0.5C with a max of -0.3C though the car earlier varied between 0.5C and 3.5C
  18. Down to -7C last night which was the coldest since last December. Misty at first then a period of snow giving about 2 to 3cms followed by light snow shs dying out pm. Max of -1.5C so first ice day of the season. IMG_2556.mov
  19. Please stick to comments on the models in this thread. Thanks.
  20. My brothers are already looking at flights trying to get in early. Not sure if I could last a fortnight but flying in for one game and a few days in Bavaria might be on the cards, wife permitting tho sister in law wants to go. @Hawesy looked like a great winters walk. Pretty cold up there I would guess.
  21. The snowfall was quite localised around here this morning. Heading for an ice day with a max of -1.4C earlier and now -2.9C. My daughter and her partner are up in Kenmore and about to go into the hot tub. Brrrr She sent a video. Her boyfriend went down the slide and into the loch. Must be crazy!
  22. Daughter struggling to get up the wee hill to her flat in East Dundee. Not sure if it is her driving, the car (Golf) or it is particularly slippy.
