  1. Unfortunately temps may not be low enough until 20:00 onwards.
  2. Tomorrow lunchtime almost looks more interesting;
  3. Looks like rain / sleet this evening turning to snow overnight on the GFS...
  4. It is also a lot colder on the ECM, and as the models converge, it could get interesting.
  5. Snow tomorrow, Friday, Saturday and Sunday and real potential, in my view, for Sunday to become a full-on frontal snow event...
  6. First few outputs showing the cold moving south slightly earlier, which should improve the snow prospects very slightly.
  7. Is that a general comment, or weather related... ;-)
  8. You're right, of course. Twitter knows all. /Sarcasm
  9. The GFS models just coming out are more progressive on snow from ~6pm tomorrow (2nd image), but as others have said, it will fall onto wet ground, so unlikely to settle to 10-15cm. More to come on Friday mid-morning, too (first image).
  10. If the GFS continues to move towards the ECM, the uppers are cold enough over most of the UK for snow.
  11. Interesting - that reflects the frontal snow potential I said a few posts ago. What is interesting is that the GFS snow charts are showing that even though their uppers are very marginal for snow. ECM is much cleaner in that regard.
  12. Well it will always spread at some point. What the ECM is showing is consistency to T+168, which is a strong signal and further out that we might normally expect.
  13. Very interesting to see how the ECM holds the colder uppers over most of the UK, whilst the GFS sees them encroach and then tilt around an axis in the centre of the UK. I wonder about the potential for a significant frontal snow event on Sunday if the ECM is right and the front stalls across the country. Where, of course, it stalls is too early to tell, but the GFS does seem to be moving towards the ECM this morning.
  14. Potential for frontal snow on Sunday....well worth keeping a close eye on the models.
  15. Not in my experience. I live in Kent, where we have the "Kent Streamer", and it hasn't reflected in the models in the past.
  16. Not much of a rush hour on a Sunday, thankfully.
  17. I am within the 70mph zone in that map...could be a lively night...
  18. Plenty of flashes and thunder here on the Kent/ Sussex border. http://en.blitzortung.org/live_lightning_maps.php?map=12
  19. Just driven through a very heavy line of rain on the Kent/East Sussex border. Some falling as sleet.
  20. At the risk of stating the obvious, the algorithms and calculations used in the model to predict the future will have been set based upon historical data.
