Snizzle falling here now.
-
Morning everyone! Well, looks like the "amateurs" on here got it right and the "professionals" in media were wrong - for here anyway. None of the heavy snow on the local BBC forecast fell here overnight and it looks as if there is a thaw underway.
Very cloudy here - so maybe some snow en route but I can't see that we'll get anything like the 10-15 cm that the BBC have been forecasting for us.
-
Love the pic Firestorm. Reminds of those ridiculous butter curls you find in pretentious restaurants
-
My marginal snow is still coming down - any snow is good snow as far as I'm concerned
I applaud all the forecasters on this site (amateur or otherwise). As others have said, it is all prediction and therefore, guesswork and it takes some bottle to put your thoughts on here in black and white, especially when some folk seem intent on throwing it back in your faces when it's not 100% right or not what they want to here.
I love looking at the posts on here and find the detail you folk give really impressive and interesting and I thank you ALL for taking the time and effort to answer stupid questions from us lamp post watchers.
These are for all of you
-
Well, Rob Mcelwee going for it for SE overnight and throughout tomorrow with fine but continual and drifting snow and into monday for most at some time! lol! Might that mean North Kent will finally get something worthwhile? lol!
Dunno where you are Snowfish but it's still snowing here in Rochester - very fine flakes still but plenty of them and still blowing horizontally in the wind. Probably had an inch or so fresh snow this evening (judging by me neighbours car - as he cleans his car the minute the snow stops)!
-
indeed! a customer bought 12 loaves of bread on Wednesday!
That's ridiculous - surely the most anybody needs is 5, plus a couple of fish
-
Lamp post nowcast for Rochester (Bluebell Hill end)...it is snowing! Very fine flakes but plenty of them, being blown almost horizontally by the wind. Not sure how long for as haven't looked out for over an hour.
-
How on Earth did you escape that, (it's eased right off now, now light to moderate) I can see towards Borstal/Bluebell Hill area, no more than a couple of miles, it must have come right down the Valley then
It's my own fault, it was hammering down and when I said I was going out for a takeaway, it stopped
-
Hammering down here in the Valley, being thrown everywhere by a very stiff breeze! Drifts starting to form in open land near the river! Max gust last hour 22mph, so can't call it a real blizzard, but sure looks like one in the lampost
Good news - that means I should see this very soon up at Bluebell Hill end of Rochester
-
Still snowing heavily near top of Bluebell Hill - it's been going for a couple of hours now. Just off out (on foot) to pick up a takeaway - wish me luck
-
Dude I lost me car !
ooh ooh a new game guess the make and model
Fantastic picture, is it a Reliant Robin
-
Slinging it down up by Bluebell Hill now
-
Finally! It's beginning to snow a lot heavier in Rochester! Nowhere near blizzard conditions but pepping up nicely
-
Wheelie Bin lid, bit of rope through the hinge eyelets! Perfect! "For Sale" signs from estate agents work pretty well too!
Any others?
Completely off topic - but in my youth, I once water-skied down the Medway on an old door- didn't stay dry for very long
In other news, IT IS SNOWING IN ROCHESTER - WOOP WOOP! Not much at all and very fine flakes but hey, I'll take anything at the moment!
-
According to the net weather radar, it should have started snowing lightly in Gravesned, but theres nothing? Also checked with my friend further east in Cuxton (rochester) and they still haven't got anything.
Just pressed my face up to the window and I spied a flake or two! Can't say if this is falling out of the sky or fallen flakes being blown. Hope it's the start of something good!
-
I've been staring so intently at my computer screen for so long hoping for good news for Medway, that by the time we actually get any snow, I think I'll probably be too blind to see it
What's Herne Bay like at the mo - hubby is due to play a gig there tomorrow and wants to cancel with enough notice if it is bad - any locals on who can tell me current conditions there and forecast for tomorrow?
Cheers guys!
-
was it filmed from the air? had helicopter around earlier
Nope - think there was a reporter there? How useless am I, was only on about 5 mins ago and I've forgotten already
-
i took those pics!
Cool! That's 2 forum members who have their snow pics on the BBC in the last 24 hours then I'dlike some more snow to be able to take pictures of
-
Afternoon everyone! Love the pics from Deal - just shown that road on BBC South East! How come it's snowning in Maidstone to the South and to the East and West - has Medway nicked someones snow shield
-
My son was hit by a single bolt from a snowcloud in Wales a few years ago. Lived to tell the tale but lost an eardrum...
Glad he was OK!
-
Nighty night yall I'm off to sleep - hope you all get your snow.
Night Timmy - here's hoping everyone wakes up with the amount of snow they're wishing for
-
Actual, real, large flaked, proper snow here!
Nice one - know you folk have been waiting a while
-
Just been through all of the emoticons and not a praying one LOL! Am praying that Halling & Maidstone Weather both have this right. Fingers crossed for everyone in Medway, Maidstone etc etc and those in the far East of the county!
-
Heavy snow heading for sittingbourne / maidstone / gillingham
Pleeeeaseeeeeee just a smidge further. If I don't get any snow it'll be the fault of you forum folk I hold you all personally responsible
Was going to be but watching Blades of Glory instead

Just been out to the local shop and there is thaw going on here. On the upside, having watched my neighbour sweep the snow off his car at least six times since Friday, mother nature is doing mine for me <_<
