  1. Woke up to surprising whiteness here in St Anne's only an inch or so but as the ground was just wet at midnight with no sticking at least it's something to report! Sounds incredible around the region in many areas in more favourable parts - good on you guys who have gone without anything decent for a good while. Snizzle here now. Have to remind myself that it's the 23rd of March!
  2. Frustrating here I've got the heaviest most blizzard conditions I've seen for years outside and not a flake is sticking. Losing patience now.
  3. Hope the Fylde coast is next in line for it to stick. Still v heavy out there.
  4. It feels like it's so close to settling here and once it does we'll be in business here but still frustrating tbh. Come on STICK!
  5. Blizzard conditions here in St Anne's but still struggling to settle. Really hope this improves. Sounds amazing in many areas now though.
  6. At Leyland station blizzard but nowt sticking. This is like non - alcoholic lager... pointless. What a waste of a potentially historic event.
  7. When I got up this morning I thought it was wet snow because of being on the coast but it was a surprise hearing it's the same for many in the region. Really hope things get better as the day progreses.
  8. At Preston station snow coming down nice and steady but hardly settling thus far. If it stays this way it will be such wasted potential.
  9. West Lancashire community high school in skem is so far only school in lancs closed acc to the lancs website. Is it bad round there?
  10. Same for most it seems mm. Hopefully all we need is some patience as heavier stuff comes in. Will be a day of surprises and disappointments. A weather lottery today imo.
  11. Question please folks - what has to happen for falling snow to begin to settle on already wet & slushy ground? Is it the intensity of the snow/temp or what?
  12. Woke up several times in the night - sleet sleet sleet with white only car roofs and a bit slushy on the grass.
  13. Hi S is it settling? I'm at work in Leyland tomorrow - 6.50am train from St Annes.
  14. Evening all - funny how we come out of hiding at these times! Just been outside and like others some flakes blowing around already but not sticking. Encoursging though being on the coast and it not being rain.
  15. At preston stn and just had an absolutely mental shower here really freak job only rain but wild.
  16. Crikey dodge you beat me to it - immense chart isn't it! Almost like the most insane chart you could draw for the NW. Mind you this one is on tonights 18z too: http://forum.netweat...ttach_id=158292 Yes please! Definitely FI but trends are promising.
  17. http://www.theweatheroutlook.com/twoother/latest.aspx TWO's headline looking hopeful today! Would be great if the chart on that page verified.
  18. Yes Glenn, looking hopeful for something more than the 'wonderful' easterly that has little to offer. Lets hope for an arctic NNW outpouring. Height rises looking interesting daily now. Keeping an eye on the mod thread but without saying much!
  19. Yes but might not be too long before the next shot at cold acc to the mod thread. Worth a peak. Talk of northerlies and easterlies. Hope if anything its the former of the two.
  20. Brilliant DL - just imagining Bowness pier totally whited out.
  21. Re snow amounts - its been poor here compared to so much of the northwest this time last night, but I've accepted my fate of being by the west coast in winter. I'll be really honest - I hate it during wintry times but its great in the summer so heyho rough with the smooth. Last night was painful though, with a snowstorm of epic proportions going on only 20 mins drive away while OK we got heavy stuff but shortlved, BUT then I read SFZ's tale of living out his username and it makes me feel that there's always another snow loving person worse off. Last Monday was good here and we did play snowballs and make a snowman in the garden - his mouth was the stick from the 2010 snowman - we kept it and will do so again. Don't ask why! Probably cos it was such good memories! The one thing that is good is that WHEN it snows properly it is so sweet i try to savour every flake, which is why I keep the radar image from 2010 below, and long for another night like it one day.I will try not to bemoan the fact that I don't live in a more favourable place for snow, but when all is said and done, most of the NW ain't terribly good anyway, so it was so good to finally be on the news for a devent snowfall. Anyway, someone posted this chart on the mod thread, and we know the potential this may have - more than an easterly anyway. Is a GH coming? Here's hoping...
  22. Mod thread looking with much more hopeful overtones for the next cold spell. Worth dipping into regularly.
  23. Wonderful photos everyone! A memorable night for many varied reasons. Everywhere almost clear here and stepping outside felt balmy at 6c! Might put a t-shirt on!
