what happened to the Spanish Plume that was being modelled last week? extremes rarely come off so i don't understand why they keep being modelled. surely human input into computers these days can get a better prediction ratio? also the new mobile upgrade of the forums do not show page numbers? is this going to be fixed soon?thanks.

Nothing much here, a flurry now and then. What happened to the Good Friday snow that was modelling last week?

The radar shows the current precipitation moving in a direct north flow. If it continues to do this some will not get what they expect. Is the direction of the front coming in going to change to a more North-east direction? Anyone have reliable info on this?

I just don't know what the weather will do this weekend. The BBC online forecast gives heavy rain in my location and 6C on sat. So no chance of snow. Yet on the model thread there is talk of snow. Can anyone give a reasonable percentage estimate of chance of snow for sat in N.Midlands area? Thanks.

Sleet here in Chesterfield but snow flakes getting bigger and more dominant.

I can't understand that in 2013, the professional meteorologists cannot give any certainty, within a little over 24 hours, as to weather it will snow and where it will snow. Utterly frustrating for people who have plans for the weekend and need to know the weather forecast to a reliable degree of accuracy. Man on the moon? Weather tomorrow?

anyone think we are in for a bit of snow later? looks like the tail of the snow may brush these parts if it continues NW. Nice if it just went directly north though.

For me here in Chesterfield, it needs to go more North-Westerly as we are missing it due to its westward track.

Radio 4 said Peak District will probably get the heaviest falls out of this event.

well i wonder if tomorrow's snow event will reach up here in Chesterfield? Probably to far west. MetO have warnings but maybe they are covering all the bases?

blaggghhh! latest bbc weather forecast on bbc news shows fri snow for midlands and southwards. this region may miss out if that materialises. may get a bit sat though with 'snow showers'.

can anyone please tell me, based on the current models, what the percentage chance of disruptive snow on fri/sat ? for north midlands. Need to drive from Chesterfield to Manchester over the peak district friday evening. thanks.

anyone know why it goes from snow to sleet/rain at around midnight for s.yorks n.midlands area even though temp is 1ºC? is there a bit of a warmer upper air coming in?

I don't know what the heck to expect regarding snow for the weekend! Some models have it up as far as Manchester on Sat then on Sun coming from the east over Lincs towards the Peak District. Then other models have it Sat sinking further south like a wet dog who did something naughty.

I wondered if anyone posted a detailed report/description of the reasons behind the December 2012 model turnaround? If they noted the signs before (or looked back and traced them) of the eventual outcome amongst the cold train, which was derailed. Maybe there is something to be drawn from that time?

I just wondered if there is any plausible reason why models change so drastically? Is it really a science of prediction only? The weather is volatile and fluctuating so I don't see any model being able to be accurate at +90 hours. It's all guess work based on many factors of past events and patterns. So yes i am unhappy that the snow may not arrive or amount to much but then again why let myself build my hopes up for a probable fall in the first place? It's like thinking your horse will win when it is leading after half the race.
