hardy souls walking over The Cat & Fiddle between Buxton and Macclesfield 19th December 2011.
  3. darn that Cheshire gap flow. rarely makes it over the peaks to Chesterfield! not one flake in 3 days whilst 15miles away it is heavy snow.
  4. Sorry I know it is probably not the place to post this, but anybody know where where I can find archive charts from last year? Specifically November 30. (Free if possible.)
  5. according to Raintoday.co.uk it appears as if the streamer is heading in a south east direction. Yet as soon as it hits the peak district it veers off to more SSE direction !!! Annoying for me here in Chesterfield.
  6. Buxton shown now on webcam picture is just 30 miles away from Chesterfield, where I live. We must have one of the widest differences of weather in the UK. Here it is sunny and 4ºC. there it is -0.8ºC. Anybody know of a wider difference in weather in just 30 miles in the UK, based on actual towns not just mountains and valleys? image from the great http://www.buxtonweather.co.uk/
  7. very light patchy bits of snow in Chesterfield for over an hour. Not settled one bit. Going to miss us again. It's nearly always all around us, but not here. Why?
  8. Anybody know what time snow/sleet arrive in Chesterfield/N.Derbyshire area?
  9. very fine icy drizzle here. Roads like glass here, a car wrapped itself around a lamp post at the end of the road as i couldn't stop.
  10. we have heavy snow forecast for midnight in chesterfield on BBC 24hr updated after noon today. But nothing much at present seems to get far past the humber inland. Is it going to change later on?
  11. I think we may get a chance of snow some time before spring. What really winds me up is the TV overhype of snow. I always was going to be a near thing with bits here and there for midlands/s.yorkshire area. What we got was all these daily Severe Weather Warnings. I can't believe they dole out the SWW like ice creams on a hot day. It really is too much. I think they are covering themselves far far far too much. yes it is dissapointing for those of us wanting snow. It is always the same pattern. Hype hype hype then warning warning warning then finally... a complete an utter wrong forecast by a mile! They should appologise in my opinion. Sorry for my rant but it gets to you sometimes.
  12. Here in Chesterfield it's just rain and sleet.
  13. slight flurry last night ofsnow. This morning just icy rain. Expected more snow here.
  14. Hi there Odd Spot, At the moment it is very light sleety snow. The sky is heavy though. Hello John, Currently there is nothing on the ground. However it is still persisting. I live near the football ground near Lidl.
  15. We had a few wet flakes about an hour ago here in Chesterfield.
  16. It snowed a lot in Chesterfield, 2 inches in our garden, but turned to rain this afternoon and now it's all melted. I went for a drive up into the Peak District and up on high ground I saw 4 foot drifts and roads unpassable. it was blizzard like up there with strong winds. Even so the temperature didn't seem that cold compared to say the blizzard of Jan 28 2004.
  17. in Chesterfield we are now getting very light whispy snow.
  18. Several snow flurries today here. Some were quite blustery and some with ice pellets. Melting on contact though.
