  1. Light rain 7°C

Wind: SW (19 mph) Gust (31 mph)

    Relative Humidity (%): 85

    Pressure (mB): 1013, Falling

    Visibility: Good

Gosh it's warm. Feels like Spring after the sub-zero temps (which I prefer to rain and mud). My pond is still covered with ice, although I can now spy a tiny area of water. I hope the koi carp have survived.

  2. Some very low maxes today in the SE/ E Anglia:

    Charlwood, Surrey -2.9C

    Marham, Norfolk -2.6C

    Andrewsfield, Essex -2.5C

    Wattisham, Suffolk -2.5C

    Kenley, Gtr London -2.4C

    Farnborough, Hampshire -2.0C

    London Heathrow AP -1.9C

    Northolt, Gtr London -1.9C

We've had a recorded low, at midday, of -4.0C and Wattisham (the closest MetO to me) is currently recording -3.1 °C, so it's getting warmer even if we've been below zero all day. I shall miss the cold, dry weather and dread a return to the sinking, swallowing Suffolk mud.

  3. Mist -6.0 °C

    Wind: 0 mph

    Pressure: 1027 hPa, Rising

    Visibility: 1.5 km

    Relative Humidity (%): 100

Fabulous frost on every single blade of grass, twig, branch, bush. Worthy of the most lavish Hollywood version of an Olde England country scene or the BBC's set for Narnia. Absolutely still outside, it feels as though one is walking through an exquisite picture.

  4. Foggy -1°C

    N/A (0 mph)

    Relative Humidity (%): 97,

    Pressure (mB): 1029, Falling,

    Visibility: Fog

Thick freezing fog all day, several reports of accidents during the commuter hours this morning. I drove all of 3 miles and could barely see a thing. It really is horrible out there now. Glad I'm not trying drive in it.

  5. Clear -1.8 °C

    Wind: ENE 6 mph

    Pressure: 1031 hPa, Rising

    Visibility: 4.6 km

    Relative Humidity (%): 95

It was cloudy for most of the night but the pond (80' diameter and between 6 and 9' deep) is frozen and as this is the third day with no thawing, the ice patterns on the surface have intensified to what looks, oddly, like the map of the world.... Hope the fish are alright though.

Was beginning to think the sun forgot to come up this morning. However, I'm pleased to report it hasn't dropped off the side of the world and a huge dark red ball is emerging from a low bank of distant cloud. Utterly beautiful.
