I think its entirely possible that Cambridge or anywhere slightly more inland in East Anglia could reach, or exceed, 30 today. Its very hot outside now and hours yet for temps to continue climbing. Difficult night ahead for sleeping though.

This was the 08:00 reading....
Not a cloud in sight. Much hotter now with the breeze making it just about bearable. I wouldn't be surprised if East Anglia didn't hit 30 today, although further inland than me I suspect.

I see stars, millions and millions of them. And the glorious, gorgeous moon, round and fat and lighting up every hedge, and branch and twig. I see shadows of the rabbits running around my fields and the faintest hint of light remaining to the north.

Have now heard back from a friend who knows a lot more than I do about insects (and has lots of books), and she says that it's an adult female speckled bush cricket. They're apparently quite common in the south of England, although I've never see one before.
I've also seen them in my garden here in East Anglia CR. Also seen similar but much more yellow ones which I don't know how to identify.

Yes John, it is lurking in my sky too. Lighting up the picture book Suffolk countryside, turning the wheat fields golden, creating multi-hued shades of green amongst the trees and hedgerows and giving birth to a beautiful day.
