Seems to be an organised band of snow heading towards the Thames Estuary.
You can see it forming off the dutch coast on this link:-
http://www.meteox.com/h.aspx?r=&jaar=-3&soort=satradar
Watch the flow and you'll get an idea of where it should hit land.
Wonder if this will kick start a Thames streamer ???
Interesting. Same sort of flow that gave us a pasting here last night/this morn...
Surely not again? That would be unprecedented in the even larger teapot.

Got around 5'' here, which im over the moon with. Stayed up all night. Thundersnow many times during the small hours (must be up there with the most reports ever in uk?) with temp whiteouts. A great nights snowatch! Anymore due for SE Essex today? Not that im bothered to be fair!

still coming down heavy here. Paul you missed the fun! Think this is last knockings now, unless that cloud formation is up to much due east?
-
Any pro's about to comment on the swathe of cloud in the S N.Sea?
-
Whatever that large mass of cloud is which has been building over the North Sea, it's about to make landfall. Anyone got any reports?
Dont know. Steve M mentioned it earlier. Due to hit my area in an hour or so I reckon. Unless it slides SSW of me..
Surely this cannot go on any longer (Reverse psychology here!)
Will get a snow depth soon. I reckon around 10-12cm
-
i have got three times the amount of snow as i did earlier on, and i don't even remember this part being shown.
Started to snow heavily once again.
Radars are showing it moving away from my area slowly, but not budging from southend. If they showers were to continue too pack in and spread the band wider, i should stay under this snow as long as the band has stalled like now.
Hmm, lets hope so. Still heavy, with big flakes here.
Looks like a thaw setting in though. My car bonnet just lost a huge wedge!
EDIT: Thundersnow again, well a flash of lightening anyway!
The finale or start of a reload I wonder?!
-
I would agree with you, i can't believe how much snow this has produced. a good 2 hours?
It certainly seems as though it is again moving back in land over southend. hopefully it stays right were it is and continues to snow heavily.
Has eased off atm. looks like that might be it, for gravesend.
Perhaps the NE end is coming back around again for a reload for us both?!
-
I really seriously think this is rotating over me here!
Non-stop heavy snow. Look at the shape of the shower band at its NE end heading back towards me I think?
Or wishful thinking!?
-
Very lucky there in southend... send it over this way please
now heaviest snow all night !! huge lumps !!!
Yeah its been a fun night lampost gazing.
Shame it's coming to an end.
Roll on Sat night, hopefully a bit more to come. Although not expecting much at all from a front that has travelled the whole length of the UK!
-
It seems to have stalled over southend only travelling south slightly, and the area from london has swung round below it.
It wasnt my eyes then.
Looks like its rotating anticlock slightly with me near the centre. Alas it is drying up here now.
The hooked shape at the NE end of the showers shows it turning nicely
-
Is it stalling?!
We are getting pounded here.
-
Last knockings for me now I think. Still heavy here.
-
Hmmm some beefy looking cloud there Steve. I wonder...
This radar shows similar here @ 05:30 cloud is bubbling up
-
I would love the PPN to stall now. Its really coming down best of the night so far, i'm so glad i stayed up to watch it. such a lovely sight.
I told you to wait didnt I!
Agreed, stall now please!
Can't be too greedy though. This is probably the best dump we have had in the best part of a decade!
-
Well this has been a real treat this past 45 mins or so. Extreme snow, now moderate to heavy. But has given a good 2cm top up I reckon. Think it will fade away over the next hour or so. But that will do me fine thanks. About 7-8cm laying. Which is way more than I thought I would get here on the coast. Biggest dump for many a year here. Good luck to the rest of you as the band moves away.
-
is it settling?
Hell yeah. Tyre tracks gone in minutes!
This is crazy for this area of Essex.
-
Wow! Seriously heavy snow here. Probably heavier than earlier. Blowing E-W down my street. Near whiteout conditions. Looks like streamer snow to me. But having seen your post Steve, guess not.
-
only falling as pellets on the south side of the river here in gravesend.
Give it 15 mins...
-
Really heavy now. Giant flakes 1" in diameter. Heads up those SW of me...
-
Some really bright echoes look set to hit my region anytime now...

Met Office have upgraded Saturday night and Monday on their website for both EA and SE
Saturday:
Staying cold. Some sunshine on Saturday, particularly during the morning, but with further wintry showers at times during the afternoon. Hard overnight frost with snow possible. Maximum temperature 0 °C.
Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:
Staying cold but with decent spells of sunshine. Risk of an occasional shower on Sunday, and some more general snow on Monday. Hard overnight frosts.
Yeah, whats the deal with Monday? Do we have a channel low type setup?
Return to zonal dross after leading edge snow?
Thought's anyone?
-
Coming down nicely again and repairing the tyre tracks some selfish cars have made down my road. Looks like another few hours of snow to come yet.

Hi Kold.
I managed to stay up all night and still aint been to sleep. Mental case!
Well worth it though in the end.
Are you talking about the band over Norfolk, E.Mids etc? That is due to slide our way yes?
What about the showers coming off the NL coast, headed our way? Surely both cannot happen?
