The convective activity is a bit of a failure down South still! Look at the beefy snow showers in Yorkshire!!
Huge sea track and stronger more direct E'ly winds up there.

Not sure why we’re getting any melt here at all today....bins had a covering on them overnight, hasn’t stopped snowing since 7am, below freezing and it’s melted?!
Sublimation.

Still very cold outside, temp -1.2c with an additional cm added so near 5cms here.
Is that right more snow is expected late tonight and tomorrow?

Did anyone else have to put a kettle of hot water on their condensate waste pipe from the boiler this morning? Yeah that was me at 6am this morning, as the boiler was making horrific gurgling noises. Fun. Not.

Looks like one last hurrah with the streamers edging back inland and fizzling.

From my Viewpoint out into the Estuary looking east can see some cracking snow showers drifting from North to South, sky keeps going orange behind the lights of Southend and can even see the fall streaks in the darkness of the Snow. So tantalisingly close but an area just between here and Herne is going to get clobbered for a while
Fresh dusting getting going here mate. Covered roads nicely. Fine powder with mini twisters dancing across the roads

Just popped in not been on last couple of hours, gone very quiet on here since... definitely wasn’t the excitement I was expecting like many others. I knew the main band was never going to be impressive in my area, but what has happened to these apparently heavy showers spreading in from the east?
Too much Northerly element to the wind at the moment (NNE) due to shift more NE’ly in the early hours which may drive showers inland a bit further. Until then it’s exposed coasts and NE Kent taking the brunt.

That still looks like the winds are staying NE? I thought they were swinging round more ENE?
NE’ly staying until tomorrow evening I think. Well that’s what the METO app says. Hardly reliable I know!

Dry slotted now in Southend and probably our fun done for today. Can’t complain. 5cm on all but roads. Good luck to everyone else yet to see much. Looking forward to a proper sleep tonight

It’s actually powder type snow here in Southend as well. Just tried to build a snowman etc and it’s the very dry type. Rare!

Wow, and yet a few miles down the road we’ve barely got 1cm!
Yes obviously very localised. Bigger totals right out on the coasts. Roads are clear though but it’s settled well on everything else.

Think the Water Table is soooo high its just not got a chance to settle, that or get stuck under some yellow on radar for about 30 mins. Colder weather still to come in think Uppers get to -11c around Middday
I’d say we have 1cm here now on all but the roads. Moderate 10p flakes.

Took a screen grab of the radar at midnight from the BBC.
Thames (ish) Streamer "Potential" not quite a true one.
Also perhaps some interest in the Channel for snow to funnel through the straight.
