3rd UKV going for 20-25cm here mate.
Surely we're approaching a very exciting level here.
To be honest with the last 3 years we’ve had along with others in this region, I said to myself on Wednesday I’d be chuffed with 5-10cm. Genuinely. As long as we hit that I’m happy. 20-25cm is bonkers and probably a once in 10+ years type event. I just hope that most in the region can get at least a light covering, especially those that haven’t seen a flake in 3 years like us!

Indeed Sparky. And they are currently doing a post mortem on the cold spell that has not yet arrived.
What they bickering about now? Can’t even be arsed to look. I’m camped in here until at least Wednesday.

Red warning?
Say it aint so...
I’d be surprised if it went red tonight. Tomorrow I could understand.
Perhaps an extension of the amber zone.
Or completely nothing related

Am hoping to do a facebook live if there are 40mph winds and Blizzards at some point on Sunday as probably wont see those conditions very much in my lifetime in this country, have a country park near me which is exposed to the east so should get some serious drifting pics if snow accumulation is heavy enough, like Alexis said could be some harsh conditions out there
I’ll bring the dominator

I see the BBC Weather SE summary has snow showers for the SE followed by flurries during the week. However, taking Southend as an example, they show heavy continuous snow for Sunday morning, not showers. This is one reason for my deepening distrust of the BBC's weather output (Meteo) - there are far too many inconsistencies within their own output. Even if their overall model is wrong, at least get the public output from that model right!
That’s me screwed then

The air will be cold enough, thats not a concern at all.
Once it tucks in you probably will be struggling to get above 0c until Thursday at least.
More uncertainty is just how much precip there actually will be around. in our neck of the woods, its quite possible looking at the 06z high resolution models that we are going to be stuck between two separate snowier zones. Thats not to say there won't be snow, but it may well be higher both east AND west of us, depending on timings.
You need to get back to Thurrock mate. Essential snow chasing and all that.

Thats it.. its jinxed!! Somebody has dug a sledge out to dust down.. its all gonna rain now
No no. I’ve located it. Not dug it out. I’m not responsible I promise!

So I’ve located my sledge in the garage very dusty as you would expect after 3 years of being a spiders home. I’m refusing to get it out and hose it down until tomorrow afternoon as I just know I’ll jinx it for the region. Tell me I’m not the only stupidly superstitious mug in here?...

Fully expect an extension of amber warnings across large swathe of the region.. as the easterly inflow ebbs in the rolling convection machine ramps up massively.. as illustrated via the 00z ecm @ 850hpas @850vents @500 geo pot!... impactual organised snow bands... and persistent snow showers region wide.. sweet spots well in excess of 10/15 cms ground accumulation........ edit.. I hope that was straight forward =understood by some!!!
@tight isobar coming in with the ....it’s game on

looks highly localised... not good...
Some random Swiss model has churned that out. Wouldn’t take much notice. Lovely to look at though if you’re under the purple

Remember when your Nan always said “It always warms up before we get snow” well you look outside today and you realise she was absolutely spot on. What a gorgeous day. Blue skies, heat haze on the car roofs, daffs springing up. Mental to think in less than 48hrs we are in the freezer. Very USA-esque!

Looking forward to witnessing that wet to dull grey then white changeover on the roads early hours Sunday. Amazing how it happens really when the ground is so wet.

Been looking at the rain to snow transition times. The zone seems to be between midnight and 3am Sunday for the changeover for the region. Looks like an all-nighter then
