  1. Some hefty showers coming through the North East..again. No reports of Sferics as yet but I think we had our yearly quota yesterday..! The North East is definitely one of the UK's hotspots for thunder..just like last year. NW 5min radar.
  2. Oh but you did Ian..!! We didnt have the rain Newcastle,Pelaw, etc,(although the rain was torrential enough to flood my garden) but we had dramatic cloudscapes and frequent lightning and extremely loud thunder. Ive posted some photos on this thread http://forum.netweat...77#entry2326577
  3. Storms just clearing the coast now, an excellent 2 hour display, some fantastic lightning and some pretty energetic rotating clouds and extremely loud thunder. Top thunder day..!!! Can still hear the thunder and see the odd flash of lightning from the storms now over the north sea...
  4. Quite a day for some spectacular cloudscapes today and especially so this evening around 9pm. I couldn't agonize over the England V Italy match so I went outside to cheer myself up with some amazing cloud formations, thought I'd share a few.
  5. Yeah my brother saw one or two CG strikes, I was facing south at the time but did see a flash behind me, but with the house obstructing my view it was impossible for me to see it.
  6. I think he's gone to Norwich this weekend. Here' a few photos from todays storms.
  7. Reasonable storm just passed through, all IC lightning (as far as i could see) with occasional 'shotgun' thunder but mostly loud deep rumbles accompanied with torrential rain but no hail. Looking pretty good for perhaps more going by the radar echoes. NW 5min radar.
  8. If those storms coming out of France hold together you people in the South East are in for one 'ell' of an afternoon..!! NW 5min radar. For only £3.49 for the month or £23.95 for the whole year you too can have access to the best UK rainfall radar on the net..!!
  9. Alas no thunder with those showers but torrential downpour and a little more to follow going by the radar.
  10. Big explosive convection kicking off here along the NE coast. Some pretty amazing cloud structure. NW 5min radar.
  11. Lots of low cloud coming in off the sea here on the coast but hopefully when the storms arrive the change in wind direction should drive it all away.
  12. Incredible, but nothing unusual as Snow Joke has mentioned. Heres a videos of the storm.
  13. My daughter was the original firestarter.!! Shes now 21yrs..She'll kill me for putting this up..!
  14. Me, you the same Ian, I feel so frustrated to see storms kicking off inland and for storm loving folk like us denied again... I keep threatening to move away from the coast but recent events (lost my father 8wks ago) have put a stop to any new location inland as my mother needs all the support she can get at the moment. Just checked the radar and those showers are getting tantalizingly close to our location...
  15. Too far south for the likes of me Harry.. Anyway a Northeasterly breeze has returned to these parts scuppering any chance of convection along the coastal fringes...again..!!
  16. Unless your hoping to visit Saturn before December 21st 2012 as a 'Transit of Venus' will be visible from there..!!!!
  17. Especially next Wednesday. The GFS has been toying back and forth with fairly decent CAPE values for our region and today's 06z keeps the idea alive with CAPE around 500-1000 J/Kg and lifted index -2/-4 along the eastern side of the UK. Friday looking good for storm potential too but a long way off just yet for accuracy, one to keep an eye on..
  18. Something on the horizon, could we possibly get some electrical activity from this? NW 5min radar.
  19. Fantastic photos, amazing structures and a tornado to top it all.. Incredible hail too... well done..!!
  20. Tell me about it Neil, try living on the NE coast, kills off all potential storms, even last year when all around the north east were getting storms here on the coast got next to nothing...
  21. Never really got under-way here on the NE coast with a constant chilly Northeasterly/easterly wind.. Heatwave..what heatwave????
  22. And more to come with at least 6 straight days of severe weather expected..
