  1. Just thinking the very same..up to 2100j/kg of energy today gone/going to waste must be awful for you people under that and getting absolutely nothing.. No trigger no bang..!!
  2. The 18z is known as the pub run and not the 06z..
  3. Brisk Northeasterly wind scuppering temperatures here on the NE coast only 14.7°C. At least we have wall to wall sunshine and no low cloud or haar to contend with, but looking on the visible satellite there's some beginning to form out in the North Sea heading in a North Westerly direction towards North Northumberland.
  4. Cleadon Hills acts as a great barrier for you Ian and luckily for me, my back garden is south facing and my house is my barrier..lovely little 'sun-trap'. After last nights 'pea-soup' fog I had my doubts whether today was going to be one of those dull days, but a tiny shift in surface wind direction made all the difference...I still prefer my sou'westerlies though..
  5. Just goes to show what can happen in the space of a hour or so..Looked for a moment that the storms initiating in New Mexico where gonna fade away into just 'average' thunderstorms..patience paid off for you with some 'disgusting' looking structures and spectacular hail.. Nice control on your 360° Sterling Sherman..!
  6. Yahyoo..!! Just hit 14°C here on the Northeast coast... At least its sunny and the dirty 'haar' isn't shrouding the skies..Yet.!
  7. Just shown ya photo Dave on Channel 5 weather...
  8. Great start to the annual stormchase Paul. Watched the stream last night and overall received pretty good coverage and the quality of the picture was up there with the best.. Hope you all can get some sleep as the area is still under a Tornado watch...Ear-plugs at the ready!.... think you'll all need em with the thunder crashing around..(Then again you'll need to hear tornado sirens..dilemma..!!)
  9. ' TORRO TORNADO WATCH 2012/002 A TORRO TORNADO WATCH has been issued at 1445GMT on Monday 7th May 2012 Valid from/until: 14:45- 21:00GMT on Monday 7th May 2012 for the following regions Parts of (see map) SW England SE Wales Midlands E England THREATS Tornadoes; wind gusts to 60mph; hail 10-15mm diamter; CG lightning; torrential rain DISCUSSION Cold front moving in from the west is being held up by a developing frontal wave as an upper trough moves in. Sunshine ahead of this has allowed scattered thunderstorms to develop in a region of favourable vertical wind shear for organised thunderstorms, with low-level veering profiles suggestive of low-level rotation and possible tornadoes. Further convection is approaching SW England and may contain strong wind gusts although a more veered surface flow here suggests a somewhat lower tornado threat. Convection may continue overnight as the cold front drifts eastwards with strong shear suggesting a mainly straight-line wind threat. A further forecast may be required later. http://www.torro.org.uk/site/forecast.php
  10. Looking super-cellular those two, wouldn't be surprised to hear of funnel reports or even a tornado..

  12. Saw several swallows in Durham City yesterday, but as yet, nothing here in South Shields right on the NE coast.
  13. I'll have a punt, not that I hold much hope...!! Never ever won anything not even a tenner on the lottery..!!
  14. A plethora of chasers yesterday focusing around N Texas and W Oklahoma in hope of seeing a tornado. A few unconfirmed reports of touchdowns (probably funnel clouds) in that area but reports of large hail and damaging winds were definitely present. Tornadoes were reported in Nebraska and S Dakota http://www.nptelegra...9bb2963f4.html. SPC give a Moderate risk and a 10% tornado chance around Central/N Texas including Dallas Metropolis into SE Oklahoma today. http://www.spc.noaa....k/day1otlk.html Just had a quick look on youtube and seems there was at least one tornado in Mangum Oklahoma spotted by Jon Stone.
  15. Pleasant afternoon here on the NE coast with the sun finally showing and temperatures climbing to around 13℃ well done to the MetO for an accurate forecast yesterday stating the cloud would break.
  16. Many reports of tornadoes yesterday through parts of 'Dixie' alley with the current preliminary count standing at 95. A few tornadoes were reported to be large and long tracking with one estimated to be around a mile wide as it swept through Henryville Indiana. http://www.spc.noaa....orts/today.html http://photos.denver...h-2-2012/30798/ http-~~-//www.youtube.com/watch?v=3oGbczFjbik&feature=related

  20. Hi Paul and Team, just tried to log on about 5 mins ago and got this page, dont know if this will help or not. This page is used to test the proper operation of the Apache HTTP server after it has been installed. If you can read this page, it means that the web server installed at this site is working properly, but has not yet been configured. If you are a member of the general public: The fact that you are seeing this page indicates that the website you just visited is either experiencing problems, or is undergoing routine maintenance. If you would like to let the administrators of this website know that you've seen this page instead of the page you expected, you should send them e-mail. In general, mail sent to the name "webmaster" and directed to the website's domain should reach the appropriate person. For example, if you experienced problems while visiting www.example.com, you should send e-mail to "webmaster@example.com". Fedora is a distribution of Linux, a popular computer operating system. It is commonly used by hosting companies because it is free, and includes free web server software. Many times, they do not set up their web server correctly, and it displays this "test page" instead of the expected website. Accordingly, please keep these facts in mind: Neither the Fedora Project or Red Hat has any affiliation with any website or content hosted from this server (unless otherwise explicitly stated). Neither the Fedora Project or Red Hat has "hacked" this webserver, this test page is an included component of Apache's httpd webserver software. For more information about Fedora, please visit the Fedora Project website. If you are the website administrator: You may now add content to the directory /var/www/html/. Note that until you do so, people visiting your website will see this page, and not your content. To prevent this page from ever being used, follow the instructions in the file /etc/httpd/conf.d/welcome.conf. You are free to use the images below on Apache and Fedora powered HTTP servers. Thanks for using Apache and Fedora!
  21. The MetO have agreed to take part in testing the reliability of forecasts along with other 'big' profile names such as Piers Corbyn and Joe B. The Weather Test, which is being run by the BBC’s Today Programme, will see the performance of the assorted forecasters being evaluated by the Royal Meteorological Society and Royal Statistical Society. http://www.telegraph...sting-test.html
  22. Most of the UK was covered by a level 1 warning from ESTOFEX mostly for severe wind gusts, but the SE corner of the UK was covered by a level 2 yesterday for severe wind events including tornadoes.
  23. Amazing photo of 'wave-like' clouds called Kelvin-Helmholtz Instability over Birmingham Alabama recently. http://www.newscientist.com/blogs/shortsharpscience/2011/12/wind-shear-makes-amazing-waves.html
