Flakes definitely getting bigger now the main front is heading North. Too much of a dryer, Northerly element earlier on. Much prefer these Southerly battleground falls for speed of depth.

    Slightly more marginal towards coast

Yes you are a bit far in land for the coastal notherly showers! They are heavier ppn, but dont last long and you have to get luck

Don't like to bash the met office but the warnings this week have been shocking . Us on east coast all week for frequent snow showers, hardly been any. The amber warning today , yes we are not in it but looking at radar its does not look disruptive unless im jumping the gun and its a system coming in later

Their warnings are based of current data and they always warn of the worst case to cover themselves...   Well the data changed at the last minute... Northerly lasted literally hours and this system is not coming as far north as expected....  Does make you not believe them!

  3. Light snow falling here, which is surprising.  I am expecting another dusting by morning, which will be 4 dustings in a row!!!

We've had a light sleety snowy rainy mix since about 10am this morning. Its just dampening the ground and making for a rather miserable damp raw experience so far. Current temp is 2.7 degrees. We need something much heavier to allow evaporative cooling to take hold and allow for snow to fall and settle. Not sure this first front has any oomph in it, we are seeing something a bit more moderate now but temps are not falling much.

Indeed the snowline is about 350m at present which is much higher than anticipated. Hoping the second front will produce the goods, coming later this afternoon will help and there is colder air digging in from the north at the same it.

    So far a frustrating day.

    As always!

  4. When the winds pick up off the sea temp will rise and it will be rain/sleet.  You will need to be 10 miles inland or at 500ft elevation to get snow.  However, later as the low moves away it will drag in colder air from the NE.  This is set to happen early tomorrow morning.  This is the best chance for most of us.   If you are lucky enough to be inland/higher up.... good luck.. hope you get a dumping.
