Showers breaking off the coast in the south of the region now also . Temp dropping away nicely
This is a good trend. If it continues, will be better than last night for many

Well everything went way North than expected today. The wind vectors showing boundary between the slack Northerly flow & Westerly organised low system. Going to be nerve racking few days ahead & into next week as models flip/flopping so much.
Good to see a return of Greeny heights to keep us in the game ahead
Having seen so many of these south to north events, it does not surprise me. Sometimes they don't get as far north by 100 miles too!

Snowing in Washington. 3/10 intensity bit sticking to most surfaces. Nice to see although looks like it'll be over in no time..
Hopefully the start of a night of showers......
There is a trend for the showers to develop before the land offshore which is a good one!!!

For my location this has been the most snowless winter of the last 10 years (December-February) with only 7 days when falling snow was observed.
There was a couple of decent cold spells though so i'll give it 3/10.
My thoughts too.. We were close to getting snow in both spells, just got a NW instead of Northerly

Rating this winter,
What are you all rating this winter out of 10
My honest opinion is 2
I would of gone 1 but we have seen a few light snow showers and had some frosty nights, I have seen winters that have produced absolutely nothing, so I've gone for 2. We have had nothing of interest weather wise in teesside since last summer's 40 degrees. I'm very disappointed I was hoping for much more. Sorry for the negative post but I'm just so let down by our winters now.
I give it a 3. That spell in December does't happen often and was very cold. Then January had a spell. Both were relatively snowless though. Then this spell.

Looks like hitting Teesside about 7pm if it still has snow in it??
Surely the snow shield will send signals for clouds to drop all snow before it reaches you?

Don't say its going to be a near miss and other areas get pasted..... what a surprise!

This just shows the curvature of the shield perfect. Don’t worry it’s not coming here.
Must be great in the summer down your way as so dry?

Light to moderate snow here. Intensity 4/10

Looking better. This is a nowcast situation. I can recall many situations where we were due heavy falls and it either was south in the Midlands or too far North into Scotland. And it was literally hours before the event before it became apparent.

Few flakes coming down here. Some showers developing

GFS backing away from 100% snow chance at the coast and bringing in the reds. All the way from Thurs into Fri. You really need cold air for snow near the coast (10 miles) with an easterly wind

GFS between 3-6pm today. I cant see it happening

If you rewind the radar and watch back, you can see the wind curvature pulling any showers away from you and not even hitting N. Yorks. Northumberland/tyneside were favoured. You can thank the LP for that

Only good thing about it is its creeping south!
