  1. Still moderate snow here. Come on PL. Can you get an update of that chart? I thought that was thunder snow for a second and realised it was just a massive rocket set off from down my road!!
  2. Its not letting up here, just getting heavier and heavier. The wind is now picking up and blowing the lying snow around. Certainly on the heavy side of moderate. If the flakes were larger it would be very heavy.... ITS HEADING YOUR WAY MATE
  3. Yes you are right. It looks like smacking the Newcastle region in about 3 hours time. That would be the perfect start to the year. Snowing here now moderate to heavy (and I know what heavy snow is!!!)
  4. Not sure about the polar low as I have been shot down for mentioning them a few times on here, but heavy snow is about to hit here very soon. Its snowing here moderately adding to the 2cm covering so far...... I expect alot more judging by the radar...
  5. Either I have my 'beer goggles' on or thats heavy snow outside (check the radar for 01.30 for my region). I have been waiting for a NEly like this for years... HAPPY NEW YEAR to everyone. I am going out for a snowball fight with the neigbourghs.......
  6. HAPPY NEW YEAR to you all. There are some real big showers developing now in the NE region. This is a cracking start to the year. My Dad phoned me at 9.10 from Morpeth, Northumberland saying a second lightining strike of three, had knocked the power off!!! Large Heavy hail too. i am expecting some snowfall tonight...the sky has is now orange.....
  7. The showers seem to be avoiding me at the moment. A band to the north and and a band to the south. What percentage of the moon is due to be covered in the eclipse?
  8. Shower activity really hotting up in the n.sea. Looks like the 6pm forecast (from this morning) of showers hitting the region is going to be pretty near the mark. Yes I has heard it was 42cm
  9. I have to say the latest FAX charts for the next 5 days are excellent for chances for snow for the NE England. There is a possibility of a Polar Low developing out of Norway and heading in our direction for tomorrow. That would be very very heavy snow and its one feature we have not seen for many years. Anyone know how many?
  10. I certainly hope so. My 3 year old daughter is dying to make a snow man and I told her we need more than the 1.5cm covering so far. Light snow has been falling here for over an hour now, with occasional moderate bursts.
  11. The showers in NE Scotland seem to have all been snow by looking at the traffic cams. They are in colder air which is due to sink southwards tomorrow. This time tomorrow we could all be seeing snow, though I doubt it will be cold enough to lie along the coast.
  12. Very Heavy hail here. So heavy a few people in my street were looking out of their windows wondering what the noise was. Temp 1.9c
  13. Rain has completely stopped here and temp at 1.5c. Looks like a few sleet showers to follow before the place turns into an ice rink.
  14. First signs of sleet here. Turning to heavy ppn, temp has just dropped 0.5c to 1.7c. I cant see it falling another 2 deg though
  15. Yes you are right, but I was not saying 84 was the last time it happened, just that today - with the temp hovering just above 0 and rain getting heavier reminded me of then. Looking at the temps across scotland, the colder air does not seem to be right behind the band of ppn. I think the snow is reserved for higher ground, but the heavier ppn is on the East. Prehaps another one for the NY Moors....
  16. Getting heavier here, but no sign of flakes at 2.3C. There is virtually no wind. I have a feeling higher parts of nothumberland and Durham are going to do well off this
  17. Since the rain started the temp has risen from 1.4 to 2.4 here. I can't see it happening, maybee only on the back edge if the colder air digs in enough. My thoughts turn back to around 1984 when there was snow on the gound for over a week. It rained all day and turned to snow in the evening. 9 inches fell rapidly and its still the heaviest snow I have seen, but it was virtually gone by morning as much warmer air followed.
  18. Looks to be clearing south of me now. The place to be tonight is Aberdeen, what a pasting they are getting. I am off to bed
  19. Moderate snow here once again. Its wet stuff but its lying. I am not expecting much now, except another difficult ice scrapping session in the morning...
  20. Virtually stopped here now. The pennines have dispersed its as usual. Bring on the NEly. In fact the Nly so they get none! Hang on its pepping back up a bit and sky is going orange again...
  21. Getting heavier with a covering on my car now. Temp still not fallen though at 0.4c
  22. Snow definitely moderate now. No question of it lying on the old snow and its even lying on my car which I parked up at 4.30.
  23. At this time of year its normally drastic. Can be a rapid rise of 4c. Back to the main event... The sky is now orange here and temp stabalised at 0.4c. This is definitely going to be snow but will the precip be intense enough?
