    Very windy this afternoon with winds reaching around 65-70mph. Quite a few trees down in this region including one which was close to where I live. Took a few pics of the tree, which I've posted some pics of in another thread, and it appeared to have been uprooted and had snapped a nearby smaller tree on its way down.

    Today started with moderate rain which cleared quickly during the morning. It turned increasingly windy as the morning progressed, however, with gusts reaching around 60-70mph. The afternoon remained windy, with long sunny spells. Felt mild.     Indeed, Loftus appears to be the windiest place in the UK at present. It's certainly been a much wilder day than I was expecting.

    Hi Sean, Yes it's gusting to around 65mph atm. I've just learned that a large tree has fallen across one of the main roads at Castle Howard. As I said on a previous thread, it's very fortunate that nobody was hurt given how busy the road is. The arboretum is just around the corner, so I should imagine the forestry guys will soon have it sorted.

    Winds starting to get going here with gusts currently around 52mph. Pressure has fallen to 998mb

    Currently very windy across parts of the UK, with areas of North Wales seeing gusts of around 72mph. For my area, although not too windy at present, it looks as if the strongest winds will arrive around the early part of this afternoon with mean speeds of around 25mph expected, perhaps gusting to 40-50mph. Noticed that N.W. has issued a weather warning wrt the wind :
