  1. I had one of those bugs land on my shoulder recently. I was outside listening out for thunder, as you do, with the outside on, and there were several of them which were buzzing around and banging into things. Luckily, I knew what it was, so I wasn't too scared  Anyway, I got my son to take a picture, so I'll see if I can dig it out Edit: I've found it. Sorry for the poor picture quality
  2. Wow! I have to say, those pictures are absolutely amazing. The cloud formations are incredible, and the lightning shot at the end is simply brilliant I'd be very proud if I'd taken those.
  3. Yeah, it looks as if it will be fairly windy for your area during tonight and into tomorrow as well. What sort of gusts are you expecting to see?
  4. A windy and mostly cloudy afternoon with the occasional light shower Current observations: Temperature: 14.4 °C Dew Point: 12.1 °C Humidity: 86% Wind Speed: 9.7km/h Wind Gust: 23.3km/h Wind: West Pressure: 1014.4hPa Precipitation: 0.5mm
  5. Indeed, the UKMO looks rather tame in comparison. Looking further ahead, it seems as if High pressure may dominate for a while, although the ECM does show another low at around t216hrs as the jet becomes a little more amplified again.
  6. After a nice calm and sunny start, today seems to be deteriorating quite rapidly. It's turned much cloudier and the wind has picked up, which have taken the edge off the temperatures.
  7. Wow! those pictures are amazing. I absolutely love the top one
  8. Incredible pictures guys. Thanks for posting those
  9. This morning's GFS 00z looks quite nasty for Monday afternoon/evening A fair bit of precipitation wrapped up in that low too. It's a shame it's not farther South as the areas that really need the rain appear to stay dry.
  10. Dry, clear and sunny Temperature: 10.4 °C Dew Point: 7.8 °C Humidity: 84% Wind Speed: 1.1km/h Wind Gust: 2.6km/h Wind: West Pressure: 1013.8hPa Precipitation: 0.0mm
  11. It's looking quite potent on the GFS 12z, Sean. You may be in for quite a stormy period. As you say, it will be interesting to see what the ECM 12z makes of it.
  12. A clear and dry morning which gave plenty of sunshine. During the afternoon, however, it became increasingly cloudy with just the occasional sunny spell. Current observations: Temperature: 16.2 °C Dew Point: 5.9 °C Humidity: 52% Wind Speed: 1.1km/h Wind Gust: 13.4km/h Wind: SW Pressure: 1016.1hPa Precipitation: 0.0mm
  13. Yes, I agree with that. If the ECM were to verify, there would still be some signifcant winds but nothing like the GFS is suggesting. Perhaps it will end up being somewhere between the two?
  14. Morning Sean Indeed, things are beginning to look quite interesting for the North West. Today's GFS 00z for Monday is suggesting some rather steep pressure gradients on that Low:
  15. Dry, clear and sunny Temperature: 8.2 °C Dew Point: 7.1 °C Humidity: 93% Wind Speed: 0.0km/h Wind Gust: 0.0km/h Wind: SW Pressure: 1014.4hPa Precipitation: 0.0mm
  16. A mostly cloudy, but dry, morning with the occasional spell of sunshine. Turned showery during the afternoon. Current observations: Temperature: 14.9 °C Dew Point: 12.9 °C Humidity: 88% Wind Speed: 0.0km/h Wind Gust: 1.1km/h Wind: SW Pressure: 1013.4hPa Precipitation: 0.3mm
  17. Turning fairly windy again, for the North West in particular, during Wednesday: Then another Low pressure system to keep an eye on, which appears to be slightly more aggressive, for the following Monday. Once again it's the North West that will see the strongest gusts:
  18. Overcast and damp Temperature: 12.7 °C Dew Point: 12.6 °C Humidity: 99% Wind Speed: 0.0km/h Wind Gust: 1.1km/h Wind: West Pressure: 1015.5hPa Precipitation: 0.0mm
  19. Damp, overcast and breezy Temperature: 11.6 °C Dew Point: 11.4 °C Humidity: 99% Wind Speed: 1.1km/h Wind Gust: 17.2km/h Wind: SW Pressure: 1016.8hPa Precipitation: 2.0mm
  20. Stunning pictures again guys, thanks so much for those
  21. Please use this thread for general weather chat and to post your reports/observations ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Dry and partly cloudy Temperature: 7.5 °C Dew Point: 7.3 °C Humidity: 99% Wind Speed: 0.0km/h Wind Gust: 0.0km/h Wind: North Pressure: 1020.9hPa Precipitation: 0.0mm
  22. Just popped in to say hello to all you storm thirsty members. I was a hair's breadth away from joining you guys yesterday, but I was saved by a couple of cells that, fortunately, came close enough to give me a couple of rumbles of thunder. Anyway, I best get back to watching the radar. Hope to not join you soon Brian
  23. Morning Craig, Well the storm generator (ie, the sun) is shining nice and strongly this morning so, at the very least, we should see some nice convective showers. I can't say that I've seen any hail during this stormy period, so I'd like to see a bit of that today for a change
  24. Indeed, that's more or less what this morning's NMM high resolution model is suggesting. I was quite optimistic when I saw the GFS, which appears show any activity covering a wider area. But it would seem that any storms activity will, more than likely, be restricted to quite a small area. Anyway, let's see what develops as the day progresses - you never know
  25. Wonderful pictures there mate Looks as though we have another day of radar watching to look forward to, with some reasonable Cape/LI values being predicted once again. It would appear that I'll, more than likely, miss out on the action, but it's looking pretty good for the Midlands and Lincolnshire, in particular, for later today
