Here in Wythenshawe by Mcr Airport we've just had a lovely gentle snow shower which has left a covering over the frost.. Beautiful! Happy new year everyone!

Could you maybe explain why it is interesting? It would be nice to get some form of explanation in these types of posts for those of us who have less understanding of the charts!

Moderate-ish wet snow now falling, small flakes. Nice to see the rain disappear although I dread to think what the roads will be like at 6am when I'm off to do the Christmas food shop after the rain has frozen solid! It's not sticking to anything and I can't see it doing either; still, it's good to see some more snowfall for snow-starved Nantwich.

Started raining twenty mins ago here, there is now a small amount of snow in the mix. After temps fluctuated from -2 to +2 and everything inbetween, temp is now holding out at 0c. No height to help us sadly!

It'll be interesting to watch this area of ppn arrive into our area, providing it penetrates the Nantwich snowshield of course. It's frozen solid out there right now with the frost from last night, and current temp of 0.5.

Only dropped to -1.4C last night, but that's because it snowed for a large part of it, leaving a 7" covering. Does this even get a mention from the hyper-irritating Carol Kirkwood? Of course not....but the fact that the south-east got some more is her prime concern. Ah well, I'll have to console myself with the winter wonderland scenes we've got.
Currently -0.7C with more showers heading my way by the look of the radar.
I find it so frustrating at times like these with the weather reports.. if it's not happening in the southern half of the country then it's not happening at all.
I'd be really peed off right now if I hadn't have had my snow fix in Manchester at the weekend, because it's just bone dry here with a hard frost!! Still, it would be quite nice to see a few flakes falling but I can't see it happening somehow. Really good to hear about this North West snowfall, excellent stuff

Morning all, great to see more snowfall for you guys. Here in the South of the region there is nada of course :lol: It's rather nippy this morning though, currently at -5. I actually woke up last night shaking and shivering I was so cold, had to go and get a blanket to go on top of the duvet! Have to say, as wonderful as this seasonal weather is, I'm really feeling for the older generation right now...

Had a great day at the parents in Wythenshawe with the kids as it's been snowing heavily on and off all day. Had a nightmare trip back home this evening and have returned to...drum roll...no snow! So at least we had our fix today.

Yep I can confirm that around Mcr Airport, it's just crazy!! Heavy snow, and approx an inch and a half at the moment..

Still at the parents by Manchester Airport and it's been snowing on and off since 5am. Currently a nice heavy shower on the go, rather dark too

Snow still coming down here in South Manchester. Kids are out making a snowman already! 2cms, and the rain that had fallen before has now set solid.. going to be bad in the morning unless the temp goes up after the front has passed through

After an hour of rain the snow is coming down thick and fast here near Mcr Airport - everywhere covered and Satellite going off lol!

I'm happy now, I don't mind what else falls later, there's just something magical in seeing snowfall like that... -
Twas shortlived as expected but left a nice semi-white covering on the ground.
Edited to say: scrap that, blimey those flakes are big!

I'm taking a deep breath before I say this.... I can confirm that big fat snowflakes have penetrated the Cheshire snowshield!!!

Really pleased for you C.S!
Currently here by Mcr Airport temp is at -2degs and dp is at -3. It got down to -5 here last night, brr. Looks like we could get some heavy showers here tomorrow morning, fingers crossed.
