Can't believe the state of the roads, none of them on my drive to work have been gritted and they're main A roads... took 1 and half hours to do 18 miles and it's snowing again!
It's been snowing here for an hour or so and it's settling on the cars/road, etc. Hope some more pptn comes along as this band seems to be ending now, if it kept this up throughout the night I'd have another few cm.
I'm not going to write this event off just yet - didn't the GFS show the heavier pptn to appear over the Midlands around midnight and stay there until 6am tomorrow?
I want a hot summer so all the "Global Warming" followers have something to talk about again
Or because I love sitting outside with a nice bottle of lager when it's 30c and sunny... yeah, that's it
Well, the snow is that light here it's actually melting the snow we currently have; nothing left on any of the roads or pavements and it's not vanishing from the grass! If it carries on at this rate then there'll be nothing left... it's just too light and the radar isn't showing anything significant!
Another cm of snow this morning and it's snowing again now! Never known so much snow
Notice the MetO have put their weather warning back on for tomorrow!
Having a bit of snow here now, seems to be easily sticking too - as for the grit situation; we had an email sent around at work today to say that the carpark and road outside (which is a hill) won't be gritted from now on due to restrictions on the supply... that's me not able to get to work then as I won't get up that hill with snow on it!
The February event was brilliant  If I remember correctly we had snow on the Tuesday (and I made it in to work) but we had even more on the Thursday/Friday (and I never made it in to work). What are the comparisons like on the 500hPa charts Andy? I'm being too lazy to look.
Personally I'd have preferred the snow this weekend and then a return to 'normal' weather rather than hanging on to the cold which just means whatever we have at the moment is just looking shabby I don't like the black snow we have at the side of the roads
The 'Surface pressure charts' on the UKMO website show a trough through the Midlands for midnight tonight, guessing this is why they suspect showers overnight as they'll form along the trough?
Doesn't look like those showers are pushing too far inland at the moment; think I'll focus on the setup for Sunday. Is it just me or does it look very borderline at the moment? Although the 850 temps are showing as -10c, the 528 DAM line is pushed to our west - or doesn't the 528 DAM line make much difference with the 850 temps at -10c?
Starting to snow here again - I'm working from home today as I can't get up the hill to get out of my village. I hope they come through with the gritters to at least clear some of the lesser used roads else I'm never going to get out of the house!
