  1. Front appears to be starting to push north a bit now looking at the latest radar picture. Temperature is currently 2.1c here and steady so it's going to be very borderline; evaporative cooling may help in the heavier bursts, that is, if the precipitation actually makes it this far north - it's moving east at a fair pace too.
  2. Had a bit of a disaster !! My weather station has stopped showing me the outside temperature... certainly isn't because it's buried in snow, that's for sure!
  3. Well, I live right next to Hinckley on a hill so I'll let you know if anything changes - still raining right now though and Sammy Snowman isn't looking too healthy.
  4. It's good snow anyway - not like that powdery stuff we had on Monday.
  5. Some people are never happy! We've had the best week of snow for as long as I can remember and people are complaining that there's no more coming!!
  6. I've been counting the cars as they leave the estate and return again 5 minutes later... Looks like the buses have stopped now too.
  7. To be fair to the forecasters, I feel they've got it covered very well for both Monday/Tuesday and Today.
  8. Well, needless to say... I'm working from home today <_<
  9. Just been called twice out of hours so thought I'd come and have a look on here Still nothing happening on the snow front here... although the radar shows it to be knocking on the door!
  10. Well, I'm going to go to bed and leave you lovely snow chasers to radar watch for a few hours. If it snows then wish me luck - I work in Ashby de la Zouch and anybody who knows this area will know that it has a micro climate; it snows there even in the middle of summer!
  11. Well they're in the wrong area since this bit includes East Midlands
  12. Talking of working from home - I told all my colleagues at work to take their laptops home with them... did they listen? No! Glad I brought mine home with me
  13. Presenting the news and weather is so much harder than it looks! Thanks to Darren Bett for his advise anyway - came in useful Not sure if anybody else around here went to the Godiva Festival but I have a great weekend. Cheers to all those involved!
  14. Some more snow for Leicestershire/Warwickshire today, however, I think it caught the gritters out tonight - the fact it wasn't settling until about 15:30 meant that the grit/salt had got washed away before it started settling over the top - took me 1 and half hours to get home from work, usually takes about 20 - 30 minutes. Temperature has hovered around 0.5c most of the day; I don't remain hopeful of getting anything from the next band of precipitation - we can't complain though, the last frontal snow I can remember in Leicester was 2003 (or was it 2004?) - I've never known us to get frontal snow one day after another - shame they're both days I've had to travel to/from work.
  15. Looks to be developing again to the south - should intesify as it begins to hit up against the cold air?
  16. I've made it to work !! I must say that they've done a great job of gritting/salting the main roads here - they were still gritting the A5 as I was travelling down it. If they keep that up all day I shouldn't have any problems getting home.
  17. Well, it has started snowing here and luckily it's very light at the moment - I am going to proceed with my 15 mile drive to work (westwards) and hopefully it will hold out a little longer to allow me to get to work.
  18. Coldest day of the year so far with the following conditions: Temperature: -2.4c Dew point: -12c Humidity: 46% Pressure: 1017mb and falling Conditions: Clear and frosty
  19. 08:52 Temperature: -0.5c Dew point: -11c (?) Humidity: 43% Pressure: 1023mb Overnight minimum: -1.6c Conditions: Clear and frosty
  20. Current Conditions as of 22:53 Temperature: 0.6c Dewpoint: -6c (Apparently?) Humidity: 63% (Apparently?) Pressure: 1026mb Conditions: Clear and frosty with the odd snowflake left over in the selection box from Christmas. I think I should get my weather station checked. Seems to be getting a bit excited with the dew point and humidity.
  21. It begins to get light about 04:00 here, as I can't see the horizon I'm not sure what time the sun begins to come up but it's almost like daylight come 05:00.
  22. Mine nearly always reads the humidity as 98% (100%) at night, although if my weather knowledge was correct that would mean the air is saturated and the dewpoint would be equal to the temperature yet, according to East Midlands Airport, the temperature is 6c and the dewpoint is 4c.
