Monsoon rain here for the past half an hour. Cell keeps back building right over here. Can also confirm lightning now although not that frequent

Cell popped up right over me. Absolutely torrential rain now. Would be surprised to get a flash or two in the next 10 mins

Here is the satellite loop I am using if anyone is interested, shows the skies clearing from the CS/SE.
Weather France, Satellite Weather France, Weather Forecast, Rainfall, Clouds, Sun in France - SAT24.com
EN.SAT24.COMWeather France, Satellite Weather France, Weather Forecast, Rainfall, Clouds, Sun in France - SAT24.com...I realised I’ve neglected looking at the satellite pics up until now. It allows you to get an idea of where storms may be forming well before they appear on radar.

Morning.
Bit of a discrepancy on forecasts In the London area today. BBC going with isolate heavy showers yet the met office seems more confident going for scattered showers, more so in the west. Guessing it’s going to be another day of wait and see. -

The met office does?
They rarely ever share it!

Cracking pics of that funnel/tornado from North Yorkshire. One thing I find odd is how people really like to emphasise between a funnel and tornado like there’s something fundamentally different. I get they can be formed by different mechanisms but the only real difference is one is on the ground. Also people writing it off as a funnnel because the condensation isn’t on the ground!
Anyway we had a storm pass to my west about an hour ago. Once again more than I expected to see like the other day.

Yeah it reads like a rollercoaster
It’s a very long winded way of saying it might or might not...
Just keep expectations low and then all the better if something does happen. At least it’s more interesting than the nice but boring weather since lockdown.

The Met Office and BBC forecasts never, ever mention thunderstorms to the extent you'd expect them to. The only time they do is if there is a warning for them out, otherwise it's just "heavy rain showers" with thunder/lightning being almost an afterthought, if mentioned at all.
The metoffice do seem to avoid using the word thunderstorm unless theres a really certain risk. Maybe they avoid getting people too excited when thing are so uncertain.

Certainly nothing obvious. If you did have a supercell moving from east to west and it was obv on radar, would the classic image be flipped?
Anway nice bit of convection over south london now. Had one of those strange 10 second showers half an hour ago.
