Agreed about the rader. I went off to cook a meal because nothing was happening/likely to. Got up for a refill of chardonnay, looked out the window and it's snowing Thought I'd had too much chardonnay for a moment.
If I'm not, I'm paying Council Tax to the wrong people Definitely in Leeds. Definitely snowing. Definitely lying. I didn't expect this at all - I don't think anyone did. If this low is doing something unexpected, there may be hope for you yet.
Moderate to heavy snowfall. Large flakes. At least 1cm down, perhaps nearer 2 but I'm not crawling around on an icy balcony measuring the depth as I did the other night
We have about 4 inches of lying snow and about 2 inches ice where people have trodden down the snow on the side roads. Main road clear. Apparently Roundhay always suffers badly in these conditions. It's only possible to walk on pavements if you're wearing walking boots or similar. Gritters? What gritters. I don't know if they have grit or not - we haven't seen any. The city centre is virtually clear. The lying snow seems to start at Chapel Allerton and extends north. I'm watching the progress of this channel low with meteorological fascination and some concern, given the existing conditions here.
Yes, I saw this earlier. Good post, nice useful graphic. There are also some posts people might want to check out in the Channel Low thread about the possible intensity of this low. Moderate snowfall here for about half hour.
Well, it certainly isn't thawing here. Thoroughly dangerous outside. Like many other parts of the north, dark clouds are coming and going, and producing nothing.
This time round...some winners, some losers...but perhaps another shot at snow at the weekend. The outskirts of Leeds are barely functioning. The main roads are open but pavements are treacherous. Heaven help us if it freezes overnight.
Is it??? I got that by Googling it. That's very interesting. Thanks for the info. I'm new here so still finding out essential facts like elevation etc (and shops, and buses).
