  1. So I figure the only thing we can discuss is the amount of rainfall.

Down here we've seen 13.3mm in the last two days, and more on the way tomorrow, will we make the 25mm mark before the end of the week.

Temps did take a recent drop now at 3.9°C.

Somebody walked in today and said 2-5cms of snow tomorrow, and he then asked me why I was rolling around on the floor ROFL.

I said you've been watching the Met Office forecasts :whistling:

Thereby begineth the first lesson, take yea little notice of Met Office weather warnings unless graineth of sand be holdeth.

    Thereby endeth the first lesson,

  2. Hi Joneseye & GLTW.

I've not been on for a while GLTW so sorry I missed your earlier obs.

You both made some valid points, the Dam line on the GFS is nowhere near far enough south and the cold isn't embedded. Think it will be one to nowcast on the night.

I was very surprised when I saw the forecast this morning, it feels wrong. I reckon the met-office may retract the extent of the snow over the next 24 hours.

    We shall see.....

MetO have already shifted their position, as they had yellows out for Thursday night into Friday morning, around midday today. Now that has moved well into Friday AM, and given the warming push I would think North of Brum would be good for some early snowfall, down here, as you say there's a distinct lack of cold air, and given we are due rain for 90% of Thursday, the ground will be far too damp for anything to settle, whilst temps remain too high.

  3. Paul, as I said previously, we are up for the Desert Lightning but can't do this year, as last year didn't fulfill our appetite for tornado's we have to go back and do it all again, until we see more than 1!

So if we get our fill this year, then we would skip tornado chasing next year (sob sob) and go for the Desert Lightning.

It would be a good thing to place the options up when the booking for next years Tornado chasing goes online, that way people can see what's available through the year and plan.

Given the two next year (tornado & lightning) we'd go for lightning.

  4. Dear Santa

My mummy said I had to write to you, and ask you nicely for my presents.

I have been a good boy this year, I haven't kicked the cat (well not too much) and I have eaten brussel sprouts coz daddy said they are good for me.

Next year I am going to America ('ray....) to chase tornado's so Santa can you please deliver at least one EF3 and maybe some baseball sized hail so I can say I've seen a real storm & tornado.

PS Please can you tell Sean Casey, to say hello to my mum as she thinks he a dish, and is real upset that Reed has a girlfriend (glum)

    Thank you Santa

Oh by the way tell the boys & girls on 2011 tours it's gonna be a good year, merry crimbles to you all and see you in TEXASS

  5. The bit in italics is not really true - there is no such offence, though a police officer might (quite rightly) consider it driving without due care & attention (or something similar). A large shelf of solid snow sliding off on to your windscreen (if you're braking), or on to a following car (if driving fast) can and does cause real problems, as many have found recently. There is no evidence that the police are particularly targeting this, however, - the rumour of a specific offence derives from a text of uncertain origin that has been doing the rounds.

But you're absolutely right that it is a significant safety issue, and the thoughtful, considerate and non-lazy driver should always clear any large amount off before setting off.

Well you can tell the muppets that haven't seen snow down here in this area, they cleared nothing off their cars, and peered through minuscule gaps they managed to scrape out of their windscreens.

Dozy idiots, try that in the US or Canada and they the old bill do get well and truly angry about it, and so they should.

    Rant over

  6. Mornin' All, it was quite interesting to see the difference this morning between where I live (on the heath) and the centre of Bournemouth. Whilst our area is still loaded with slush and yesterday's aftermath, Bournemouth looks really clear and no wonder my one son said "Looking good" and my other son said "Is that it?", and they are only 5miles apart that's how marginal it was yesterday.
