  1. Atlast friends east of northern ireland - Downpatrick! We actually have snow worth talking about - steady moderate snow currently - 1 inch so far on ground radar says perhaps another 1-2 hours - this could be the snow event of the Winter!! still cold at -2C which is brilliant outlook this morning is snow on and off all week! - hope it doesn't try to rain as some of the charts kind of suggest
  2. The End of this cold is now concrete!! GFS slams milder air into us starting Monday, by Wednesday most of the country is melting!!! by Friday... t-shirt weather ECM follows GFS, the first time they have paired up in 2 weeks Ah well... of course the only question now is how much wet snow, sleet rain will occur during the transition? We still have February to live through... Fun while it lasted
  3. Ok - its cold and has been for 4 weeks But how cold will it get?? Just watched a chart from the CMC model for Morning of the 9th January -22C in highlands?? will we get to the lowest - -28.4C I think!! that will really crown this cold period http://www.weatheronline.co.uk/cgi-bin/expertcharts?LANG=en&MENU=0000000000&CONT=ukuk&MODELL=cmc&MODELLTYP=1&BASE=201001060000&VAR=tmp2&HH=78&ZOOM=0&ARCHIV=0&WMO=
  4. Whaoh.. the end is now in sight ECM showing dramatic breakdown in cold spell No doubt we will be told to bin this "bad" chart... but there must be a basis for this output... ECM has been the one to watch this winter so far... other models are sure to follow suit... good bye our wintery blip... welcome back the SWesterlies
  5. Look I'm no expert but let me point out one thing! Yesterday ECM was GOD....everything was cold cold cold as far as the charts went Yesterday GFS was the fly in the ointment - most people has reason to shoot it down 18Z ECM - is no the fly while GFS is GOD golly,,,, consistency - NONE, can we believe them NO WAY sorry.. getting quite cynical really
  6. apart from Scotland no really deep penetrating cold on the way interesting to see another pesky low heading in from the SW later in Week... could this bring the snow we all want?
  7. Oh dear I sense the optimism is waning in the South The shift north of the cold barrier and hence the snow is continuing, in addition over the past 72 hours the timeframe for coldness is also being pushed back.. first its was Tuesday, then Wednesday now next Friday until cold air swamps the country once more YES - if yo live above 300m from North England northwards - or in the whole of Scotland to Sea level, perhaps N Ireland above 300m, otherwise lots and lots of cold Rain on its way next week, Only glimmer really is that pressure remains highish right across North from Canada through to Siberia - producing a strong flow of easterlies - they are bound to encroach further south.. ah well It was the Xmas day charts and the wine that got me going.. at least for 24 hours anyway role on mid January
  8. extended charts show us returning to mild weather past the new year... shame really considering the charts on Xmas day.... I guess it is inevitable!! saying that the jet is still way south.. very unlike our winters of late
  9. Well, lets just say this If there is any snow addicted sad git out there and the only thing they want for Xmas is a white one, then these charts are your ultimate dream!! Anyone see the movie "the day after tomorrow" - well in the christmas pudding - this is as close as it comes!! lets get over the next 36 hours of plus temperatures then its going to freeze freeze freeze and let it snow snow snow As an old cogger on these boards, for all you youn ins out there; these are magical in every respect nothing more to say ( ps only on here because I be one of those sad gits who on Christmas morning at 7am has nothing much better to do .....!!) Now... models.. don't go an ruin this for anyone, well not today anyway!! bye and Merry Christmas to one and all Ho ho ho ho
  10. for what's worth, in Canada a white Christmas is classified as 2cm of lying snow at 9am on Christmas morning there's a good video currently on weatherchannel canada basically "LAUGHING" at us over here and our definition of White Christmas!! HO HO HO
  11. Just gorgeous - thanks for taking the time to put these snaps on merry Christmas!
  12. what is that I see? a little low zipping across the centre of the country on the 24th ? temperatures are freezing to the north - so major snow event is possible if this comes about anyone else pick up on this? GFS 12 run today also - staying colder for longer and mild weather never quite getting much above Manchester for next 7 days - also longer outlook sees very cold weather just to our north looking better - a definite upgrade from 06zz thoughts?
  13. oh dear its all looking very mild mild mild - as far as the eye can see!!! so after this little cold interlude - its back to t shirts - disappointing really considering all the end of year hype!! ah well AT least the DAYS are GETTING longer (or daylight hours!)
  14. UK office charts show a little nasty low appear in S Ireland on 24th Dec - this could be very interesting if it moves across S Uk - Major white Xmas for some????? you hear it here first!
  15. its all to play for over the Christmas period, certain now to be cold right up until the day itself - after this models don't seem to have a clue¬
  16. first glance... what a difference!!! looks fairly modern.. I like all those curvy boxes that you click on!!! can't help noticing that the ADVERTS are taking up the middle of the slides.. ah well someone needs to pay for this!! well done Netweather
  17. Golly this gets up my goat!! It has just rained incessantly for 56 days out of 62 in July and August, with only one day over 20C.. how the heck can this be bbq weather! Joke... civil servants.. a nonsense!
  18. Based on todays rain for N Ireland my friend expect a complete Drenching today was totally dire... rain rain rain.... place flooded, now at 25 days in a row of rainfall of some form or other... this has been a summer of uk contrasts ... NW wet, cold, SE warm dry..
  19. With summer almost over (July and August), I thought I would share my thoughts on the numbers for me, perhaps you could do the same Days without rain: 6 out of 62 Highest temperature: 21C Days over 21C:1 Lowest temperature 8C Barbecues: 0 (none!) Trips to seaside: 1 ( for 2 hours) Subjective summary: Utter rubbish, equals the dreadful summers of 2008 and 2007. Good for slugs and moss, little else.
  20. temperature 14C heavy rain the dreadful summer continues
  21. Autumn is definitely approaching temperature today 14.5 yesterday 14C last night temperature 9C cooling trend has now begun - no heat from sun
  22. Must agree.. there are too many whiners on this board!!
  23. Heat - what heat - imagine living somewhere where the highest temperature over the two months of july and august was a meagre 20.1 C !!!! and where it has rained for 46 days out of 51 days since July 1st, so please please - don't start complaining about 27C or 30C - give me 19C and dry any day - 21C is a heatwave this summer has to be even worse thant he last two - and they were crap also I give up
  24. Stinking day - to join the past 2 days!!! extremely heavy rain currently - temperature maximum only 15C - bloomin awful -
  25. Thankyou for saying "for some" give me 12 C less than 30C and I would be happy.... unbelievable how situation we currently have between the NW and SE can be maintained for so long... just had the 3 worst days ever!! rain rain rain..
